It's free for the version that can record shorter clips, but $5 for the upgrade to record up to an hour. It's well worth it IMO.

You probably haven't tried this, but do you know how long it takes for screencast-o-matic videos to be posted on youtube when i export it to there?

This came at the right time for me when I was struggling with cam studio, codecs.
I made a video using this.
I like the convenience and not having to fiddle with several options.
The video quality is not as great as DC videos but is very good for the file size.

I haven't tried the Youtube export, so unfortunately I really can't say there.

with camstudio, many people have problems with the audio being out of sync after a while (say it's an hour long, usually it starts somewhat halfway through). i haven't tried it again since september.
hopefully this Screencast O Matic works well with audio being in sync.

Great find, Rob. I just tried this while playing a HUHU SNG and the audio is good, and very easy to use. Best $5 I ever spent.

Camtasia is way better than this program, but this program is better than a lot of the free screen recording tools out there.

Whats up Entity. I just tried to export my first vieo off screen o matic and my Norton keeps finding an executable file call som_com_encoder_2exe on the site when I try to export. It is labeling it as a high security risk. IM not sure if that is the reason why I can't export my file

Audio/Video quality was crystal clear on my first effort today, highly recommended if you just want to make a basic video w/o any editing requirement. Thanks Rob!

I don't think it has any advanced editing features like this possible, though if you email the creators of the software they'd be able to let you know in more detail.

Is it possible to capture from your second monitor? I have tried several times to no avail

I have a laptop and a 24" monitor. I play on the monitor but it wont capture my second screen. Is there a way around this?

Can fix this ^^ now for others with same issue, change your monitor to set as primary and it works.

Unfortunately no easy way that I know of. There are compression tools out there but most aren't free or easy to use.
