For someone looking to add some HU play to their repertoire but who isn't as advanced as Johnny at 6 max, would you recommend playing one table of HU along with maybe two 6 max tables as per this vid or would you recommend maybe just playing one HU table on its own to get accustomed to it?

i would start with just 1 hu table and play 1 table until you can't stand it anymore. Then maybe add in 1 table of 6m and 1 of hu and mostly autopilot the 6m while still focusing on the hu. Keep building from there.

But at the end of the discussion on this hand you said we'd bet/fold the turn. Can you clarify?

ya good point, I should have explained that better... so when the turn rolls off there and we bet 1/3 pot, we basically need to ask ourselves how spewy/balance conscious the opponent is. The more balance conscious/tougher reg/better hand reader he is (and thinks we are), the more inclined we should probably be to bet/fold. The more of a "bad reg" he is or the more spewy we've seen him in the past, then we need to bet/call the turn. I'm not sure what johnny's read is on this guy, so I shouldn't have said we would have for sure bet/folded the turn. If I don't know the guy and have no read, i would probably bet/call the turn for the reasons stated earlier about how far we can discount big hands from preflop, flop, and turn actions.

If I bet a more normal amount on the turn, I think bet/fold is a bit more reasonable.

When Im playing against regs I only play 1 table HU. I also play some HU when a 6max table breaks but I then reduce the amount of 6 max tables I play and try to avoid playing higher or tougher tables.

If we just bet 1/3 pot on the turn, it's awakward for us to get stacks in if we wanted to. Isn't there a danger opponent recognises this and would presume we'd fire bigger with a stronger made hand and that a 1/3 psb on turn here would be indicative of a marginal made hand?

if both players have hands where stacks can go in, they will go in.

you make a reasonable point though that villain might mis-read this fact in game

Also, its not like villain can play that well against us if we do want to overbet the river. I dont think it's clearly value or clearly bluff. His hand will be fairly face up as badly played Kx or some thin value on the flop.

against a loose guy whom you are comfortable playing oop, i dont mind defending here.
