Keep in mind its full tilt so villain actually could have had J4Q all clubs on 3rd and hit the jack on the end - in the mix games I've seen worse ![]()
Joe Tall goes over Stud Hi mix-game hands with DC member, thetaker, in detail using the replayer. 8/16, 12/24, 20/40 hands from the mix games online are discussed.

I really disagree about value betting the 8s and 2s on river here. We actually probably have a worse hand than the one we are representing, since as you said what you see is what you get, and we jammed a jack door and bet 5th and 6th. Also, with the read that villain started with two big spades in the hole (which I fully agree with), there is almost no chance he has paired on 5th / 6th so he can't make two pair.
I think this is a spot where his range will be incredibly polarized to hands that beat us on the river, or hands that can't call. And so its a check and decide how likely he is to either bluff or spaz bet a rivered pair. I think check/fold at these stakes is probably the best play, exploiting the fact that people don't bluff enough in this spot.
This was a great vid for me learning mix games and stud hi in general. TheTaker chooses really common but tough spots us holdem donks find ourselves in, hope to see more!
a really excellent video and very good analysis!
ty for that.

In this hand, would the river have been a good opportunity for "poolshark" to check the river, hoping to induce a bluff? After "TheTaker" raises 5th with xx935 board to our apparent split Queens, shouldnt "pool shark" realize "TheTaker" is indicating at least an overpair, and then check hoping to induce a bluff by an unimproved overpair? It seems the bet by poolshark will only get called or raised by a better hand (altough "TheTaker" called down) and will be calling a bet regardless. Or is checking missing too much value?

I don't think people are often betting an UI big pair for value with villain showing an open pair in this spot and I don't see them bluffing all that often when villain calls a reraise on 5th and then donks 6th. Many times I see someone check there they show 8s up or something like that. I do think they are losing value by checking as people will often look you up just as in this case. I think if villain had Qs up and checked that Js up could often bet, but they would call the bet as well if they got to this point and many might not go for thin value so again you lose a bet.

If you hit Ks up on 7th, standard reraise? If so, what are you doing when 3bet?
