Hey guys, I took down the video and am re-producing, it should be fixed in a few hours and I'm really sorry for the delay.

Fixed now guys. Ipod version will be up soon -- figured you'd want me to rush the WMV/MP4 versions up as quickly as possible. Wink

sound is realllllly low for me

It was recorded a bit quieter than some of our other vids. I'll try to touch it up but I can hear it right now w/no issue on my standard speakers, so turn it up a bit for the time being and I'll see what I can do without distorting the audio quality in the meantime.

Yeah I heard this from a few people in IRC so I'm reproducing it (again). It's going to sound good for some people, but probably too quiet for a lot of people with weaker speakers I guess. It sounds great on my iMac. In the meantime I'm producing another version of it now with about 10db of gain that hopefully will sound good without clipping.

THIS
VIDEO
IS
SO
SICK

RBK: When you tried to rebluff shipyourstack for 3600, he had about 2800 on top of that raise amount. do you think a raise to like 3200 would work? as you said, you never have a decision after he jams so it seems like the two sizes accomplish the same thing. 3200 leaves him with 3200 left, so it doesnt seem like it would affect his decision at all either.

you mean the hand vs ericberen not shipurstack right?
when the ace paired the turn?

ya i dont think it would have made much of a difference...pretty sure he never has a decision at that point.
pretty sure it was a slow-roll, which is silly cuz he has to know i NEVER have a decision, so to think he can somehow influence my action based on how long he takes is redic.

This is an amazing video! I'm curious about the laydown vs. SamH. You didn't think that he was trying to bluff the river ... sometimes, I get paranoid about river-bluffs when I'm playing aggressively. I realize there is history with this player and respect for him; sometimes its unclear to me how to use longer history vs. session information. Do you have insights here?

I've watched just about all the NLHE videos on the site. This falls in there with the best of them. You talk about game, dynamics, player dynamics, history, and general philosophy (i.e. hand protection vs. stack protection). All that stuff was great and I hope to get more from your future vids. Awesome work.

thanks bro appreciate the feedback.
as to that hand, it just seemed like a bad spot for him to be bluffing.
i know some players are capable of it, but vs samH i just didnt think a bluff was a big enough part of his range in that spot.
he was one of the few players that i would ever fold to in that spot (which i think/hope i said in the video).
also i wouldnt always fold that hand vs him, however just seemed really likely he had a flush based on the way the hand played out.

i think he bets most of his bluffs on the turn, so i thought it was very likely he was on air on the flop picked up a flush draw on the turn which is why he checked.

treppex convinced me to watch this.

After about 20 mins or so I thought "yea it is interesting but wtf am I learning from it".

By the time it had finished I had changed the way I played poker. More variance to my game certainly, managed to triple my stack on one table and its been a while since I have done that. Why? because I had been leaving these fishy tables once I was deep, scared and deep. Now the whole "protect a stack over a hand" thing has been explained a little I felt more confident. Sure everyone thinks you have just slow played them or that you have just floated them, and sure billy the bluff is having the time of his little life getting me to fold en queue. But this is poker and its fun.

Thanks! more please!

I made notes as I watched and what I really liked about the video was that there was underlying topic (being deep) and that was explained from various angles, instead of concentrating on nitty gritty details of each hand etc, in this video the concepts were more important.

So just by referring to my notes now I think I have a good handle on how to play 200+ bb deep. Common problem for me is that I double up but then slowly give up the profits until I leave the table. Some people on the other hand are able to hold on to their profits. This video explained what these people are doing different, so thanks for that.

Other worthwhile concept/topic might be playing against shortstacks. c-betting. etc.

It seems I say this almost every week, but this video is probably the best video I've seen on DC. Pleaaaaaaaaase give RBK a "movin' on up"-style deep series where he plays a bunch of stakes deep. The analysis in this video and emphasis on protecting your stack and not your hand was just fucking amazing. Give this man a series.

Just wanted to let you know, if you didn't already, that your "last hand history" is screwed up, at 28:15 in the video you check last hand, and it gets the suits mixed up. storkdelamork has a 3c and the board also has a 3c.

really disliked this video. i see no reason to bet the t9 hand where you even allude to saying that it is a terrible card but you bet anyway. what could you possibly hope to fold on the turn? next time allude that you were planning on 3barrelling to fold out his 66, 88, etc as that is the only reason i can come up with that you bet.

67 hand you say that you are fine with people sucking out on you, and you don't think you are folding out 88, so you bet? makes no sense. I guess your plan was to induce a bluff check/raise so you can bluff 3bet. makes perfect sense.

I am interested in discussion of the 67 hand, seems like you can rr way smaller and have the same effect, why did you make it so big?

And I agree with the others that the T9 should be 3 or 1 barrelled on that turn. Thoughts?

well i say in the video that depending on what river card fell there was a good chance i would bet again.
i dont think a triple barrel works on a bricked off river vs that player as was clearly evidenced by my value bet on the ten.

its ok to use new information to help adjust your actions in the middle of the hand.
so while i say on the flop that i will def. have to fire again on the turn, once he calls on the turn i can reevalute my plan to fire the river based on diff river cards.

because of the flop texture i'm going to get called decently wide on that flop, however once i get called on the turn i can now use that additional information (often he will fold the turn) to now narrow his range further and guesstimate the liklihood of him folding to a 3rd barrel.

once he called the turn i thought it was very unlikely he would fold the river to a "brick".
clearly in his mind an offsuit T was a brick, and he had no problem calling.

had any picture card fallen or the flush was completed i would bet again for sure, but on a total brick i just think its wasted.

however the plan on the flop was def to fire more then one barrel.

on the flop i say that i will have to fire 2 barrels if i want to have any chance of folding out 66 or a seven, and his range is certainly wider then that for calling my flop bet.
if i check the turn i let him know 100% that i have nothing and then i will have no chance of winning the pot with a bet on the river.

there's nothing wrong with giving up on pots, but if you plan on trying to bluff you have to play the hand in a credible way to represent what you are trying to.

and i'm not sure how much deepstacked poker you've played but 88 isn't exactly a monster on a 7hi board when 200bb+ deep...

also its totally fine that you dont see any reason to play a hand the way that i do, i didnt make this video to try and give you a blueprint for how to play, and to just blindly play like i do.
the point of the video was to give you a diff way to look at the game, and some new concepts and strategies to consider, and since you would never play a hand in that fashion looks like i succeeded!

cheers.

ps. to all the others who made positive comments thanks for the feedback guys!

not sure if you know this as I only found it out by accident one day.

In Holdem Manager, if you click on the $xx.xx part of the last won pots at the top of the screen it puts the cards back up on the screen for a few seconds again. Likewise clicking on the name part brings up a rather horrid HH (they really need to stop putting card gfx in that and use symbols or letters).

Nice job RBK! I do think you misplayed a few spots but it was very interesting to see you get in there and mix it up. The 3 bet bluff on the turn vs eric is clearly bad imo. The bet size is too big, you can make easily make it a bit smaller and still carry the same fold equity while saving yourself money when he shoves. There were a couple others that I was wondering about but can't remember ATM...loved it overall though

i played on the debut episode and then after that whenver the game was 25/50 or bigger...i didnt play in the smaller games.
there was an episode where we played 100/200 and i think one where we played 200/400 (gabe thaler, me, mike binger, jeff cabanillis).

i also stopped playing on the show altogether after the HU tourney they did, out of protest to what i felt was a horrible decision.

Do you feel like your range could be a bit too polarized in a lot of spots? It just seems like in general you're very aggressive with your bluffs and opt to play pot control with your good hands, doesn't your style oblige you to value bet wider than someone who doesn't bluff as often?
