Hey Sensei, watched the vid. I think you might be C-betting flops with too high a frequency, Your C-betting with a NLHE mentality. Alot of those hands you have 0 FE on the flop versus those players but that changes dramatically if you delayed C-bet the turn. Obviously, C-betting dry as hell boards is still +eV.

What is up with the production quality on the mp4 version? It is laggy and skippy. Very annoying!

Not sure what you are using to watch the video with but there is not problems with the file it seems. It runs super clean in VLC. Try updating your Windows and getting the latest version of the player you are using to watch it in. That should help clean up the lagginess on your computer.

Hi DJ,

At about 22:00 into the video the following hand comes up:

Your Hand: SB: Qc9d7c6d double-suited

Preflop: Folded to you in the SB. You pot to 30. BB calls. Pot = 60.

Flop: 8s8d5d
You have a non-nut flush draw and an OESD and c-bet 40. He calls. Pot = 140.

Turn: 9s
You make a straight, and a 2nd flush draw comes out. You think a straight comprises a large part of his range as well, and with a paired board you think this is a bit awkward and you check. He checks behind.

My comments: If you check, you are inducing a bluff and would have to call a bet without knowing where you’re at, so you should bet and charge the flush draws. He is unlikely to raise your bet here without a full house so if he raises you would have only one out to a straight-flush so you can happily fold your straight after losing the same one bet you would have lost by check-calling. If he only calls then he probably doesn’t have a full house and you will probably make a blocking/value bet on the river.

River: Th
You bet 90 as a value/blocking bet and he folds.

What do you think of my reasoning for betting the turn?

Well the turn situation isn't one where I expect many good things to happen either way. I don't expect him to call a bet with many worse hands, but I also don't really expect him to bluff all that much (most of his range doesn't have to). No matter what line I take, I don't get much usable information (unless I bet and he raises, thats pretty usable) so I guess I'd rather control the pot size out of position. Also, I think if he bluffs turn he's pretty likely to bluff river as well.

Thanks for the post though. Putting it in very readable form is awesome, too!

haha Grin good vid.

Although im wayyyy looser than you. (like 40-34)

I also think the people i play are wayyyy more passive AND bad so thats probably why both can be good I think.

I do think many styles are successful against the weak players in PLO. I suppose I'm naturally tight from my NL days, but can loosen or tighten up a lot depending on the lineups. Also, when I make a live sweat video, I tend to fold more marginal hands on one table when I'm involved in an interesting hand on another table so I can focus my discussion on it. Not sure if that was the case or not this time, but it seems likely.
