Great video, I request a whole series for Gergery!

Some questions:

1) around 21:30: You bet the turn with your top set of 9s when the 8d makes a flush and a straight possible. First you say you represent the flush, later you add that your lose opponent might call with a smaller set. Would you have checked behind against a more reasonable opponent? And aren't flush draws, straight draws and really weak hands a much bigger part of his range than 55xx and 22xx after he called the flop? Do you think this was a good value bet? Or was there some other reason for betting still? I don't think he will ever fold a better hand here.

2) around 30:00: You get check/raised off your aces on a paired flop. You mention that you would have checked behind at higher stakes most of the time. What is your standard plan for the turn when you check behind on a flop like this?

3) around 42:40: Earlier in the video you have said that open-limping is a mistake most of the time. Why is that? I heard somebody say on some other video that open-limping was fine in PLO (might have been in the Mad Potters series). But now you limp in with Ah9h9cTd. Why?

4) around 47:00: You semi-bluff c/r with the nut flush draw, a gut shot, and a pocket pair of 8s. I got the impression that you generally like to c/r with your semi-bluffs (I think there was another situation earlier in the video, but I'm not sure). I suspect it has some advantages over betting out. But it would be great if you could explain your reasons for it.

Thanks again, in my opinion this is the best PLO video I have seen so far - at DC and at Stoxpoker.

great video gregory i would definitely like to see more

one question though:

How do you go about finding which types of players you do well against in pto? Is there some kind of filter or are you just going through hands vs people that fit certain catagories?

thx,

1) I think checking behind and betting are both options. This opponent called very lite, so I probably don’t get and flushes to fold, but since his range is very wide any A3456TJQ could make him a straight too. The bet is actually a semibluff and blocking bet also. But on balance checking behind is probably better. I would check vs tighter opponent.

2) At 30:00 with a 8TT board, any 679JQ can make a straight and a random card can give them a set, so I don’t really want to give free cards to two opponents. At higher stakes, you will get bluff/semi-bluff raised so need to play it more cautiously but here I think I’m only raised by Tx. The plan if checking is highly opponent dependent. I could fold to rocks, value bet call stations, call down bluffers, and check down vs solid players. It depends a lot.

3) I limped there because I was UTG, the button was playing 85% of his hands and raising 30% of them, we were 175BB deep, and my hand plays well multi-way. RKB says in the MadPotter series that it is LESS of a mistake to limp in PLO than it is in NL, which I agree with.

4) A very loose-aggressive player opened in late position and the small blind called and I called in the big blind. Check-raising there is very standard with all my hands as I can count on an agro preflop raiser to bet very often and then I get to see the SB act. I’m a favorite over his range and check-raising generally gets more money in with my good hands than leading out does.

Glad you liked it!

In the Misc tab, you can sort by Opponent Won and Lost to and Difference. Then its looking at the style/stats of the players you win from and those you lose to. You need to be a little careful with this tho as it can have a small sample size, and be skewed towards LAGs since you'll be playing more and larger pots vs them, so also use subjective feel in the game too.
