Nice one JT. There's very little written about short handed stud play pretty much anywhere, so it's very useful to hear your thought process while you're playing heads up and 3 handed. Please keep the stud / mixed game stuff coming

Even though I have no intentions of ever playing stud hi, I do enjoy watching these vids and other games simply to get a better understanding of how experts think and play them. Great vid - youre a stud master.

I have several comments this time:

You say that in 7stud, unlike holdem, is better to not play very loose to steal blinds in shorthanded situations. but i don't see why, if there are 4 players, you have to put a small bet to win another small bet (including the antes). In holdem when you raise from the button you put 2 small bets to win 1,5 small bets, so the odds are worse. And in holdem the big blind can call a lot because the flop changes everything, unlike stud, which if in 3rd you have a 3card crap, in 4th you have a 4card crap. I mean, in stud, even with only 4 players, seems a much better stealing spot than in holdem, no?

In 44:20 stud hilo, you defend your bringin with (65)2 rainbow against an stealing ace. I thought this razz hand was a fold 3rd, because you are only playing for one half the pot. The best you can do is probably getting your money back. Or do you called bacause of the high potential of the 2gapper straight?

In 47:01 holdem, i think you have to bet turn, you have absolutely nothing and he may have peeled the flop with a lot of gutshot straights draws or ace-highs that may fold now. As played, I may bet the river because now your bet looks like a value bet and he may fold ace high, but for me it's a turn bet.

In 47:46 holdem, i call preflop with 54o in the big blind, closing the action and getting 5:1

In 57:44 you check 5th in stud saying you want a free card against 2 opponents. You are not a money favorite with a 4flush and a gutshot straight with 2 cards to come?

In 61:07 stud hi, you fold your bringin 45(3) with a 2flush against an stealing queen. You fold and you say you are a 2:1 underdog (giving him perfect hidden cards), but you are getting 3:1 immediate pot odds on a 3rd call. It's not better to call 3rd and see if we catch well on 4th?

Say you are in a 3-handed Hold'em game and say you normally play 25% of your hands in a 6-max game. Now, what you are saying is to tighten up, since the cost to win blinds is too high. So, for simplicity lets make that VPIP 20% now. So every 3-hands you will be paying 0.75BBs and you will play one hand every 5 hands (win or lose, factor in your W$SF or whatev), without getting all complicated in this simple example, I think you can see that you are going to get eaten alive by the blinds.

That being said, in Stud, our cost to see a hand stays relatively the same. (Yes, the frequency you are the bring-in goes up but it's minor comparing to paying a SB and BB). Now, conversely, the price the pot offers you to play a hand when you are the bring-in drops significantly when Stud-games go short. Now add in the possible switches of position, and lack of folding equity with a lower-door card (when stealing) and you are in quite a pickle.

Ok, this one is close, yes. But the Ace hand has anytwo cards underneath and it's 4:1 that he'll brick and I'll pick up a scare-card low and take the pot down right there, so while fractional it's +EV, barely.

I had a really losse-aggro image so the chance I get Ace-high or a gut-shot to fold is slim, imo.

I recently pulled this line up as I said in the video, 65o and I'm calling. I showed in my long time PT data that 54o just isnt enough and DD and I have discussed this hand at end and we still cant really agree.

Yeah, I actually am, but here's the thing, it's a semi-bluff and what I dont have for sure is any folding equity. Now that I've listened to it, and if you go back, I am about to say, "if SteamRaise bets, I am going to c/r for pure-value" which is what I would do every time in that situation.
