Ooooh plo/8
Yeahthatsme and Danzasmack kickoff the new series spawned from the Insomniac Challenge. They review yeahthatsme history and talk of basic strategy regarding playing Pot Limit and No Limit O8 games.
Born out of the Insomniac Challenge, DC member yeahthatsme brought the idea of a series based on PLO8 and NLO8. He's teamed up with Danzasmack to show you what's what in this world of unique O8 games.

Bah this one is a great primer, great episode 1.

Basically, it was enjoyable to make and I do appreciate your assistance Chuck, but basically I'm extremely critical of everything I basically do, so basically I'm striving for the best. Basically. I hope to never speak that word again. I just need to figure out a not so obvious nervous substitute.
I feel like the apprentice training under a video making sensei.
I wasn't saying don't watch fwiw, just that I'm really looking forward to EP2 where we get into the session review. Seeing concepts in action is the best imo. ![]()
Yes and basically I basically feel like
Anyway, this is a must watch primer if you're not familiar with the PLO8/NLO8 games and will make our review episode much more interesting.
Thanks for making this series! I enjoyed this episode and will look forward to the rest of the series. I have read Dan Deppen's book, and this series will help me too. Good luck, Yojimgari
Wait, a whole series on PLO8 and NLO8?
Like seriously?
fapfapfapfapfap

Looking forward to watching this but wanted to comment on this comment. Striving to be the best is good, great even. However, mentally, not realising when good enough is actually good enough is bad for you and leads to burnout from unrealised expectations. It's also not very relaxing for the people round you. ![]()
Great series. Thanks so much for adding this.
I'm still watching #1, but didn't understand the discussion about As3 around @14:30 under "What hands should I avoid?"
Yeahitsme seems to say no, an As3 alone isn't enough. But then he starts digressing about A34 (OK), A3-Broadway-Broadway (OK), A38Jr (not OK) and A38Qr (not OK). But was he talking about suited A3s all along, or not? When did he transition into talking about rainbow hands with A3?
*As38Q - are you saying that two junky cards with the As3 is or isn't playable?
*The comments about A34 and A3-Broadway-Broadway, do they pertain to suited or unsuited aces?
[And how do I add a timed comment on video? I searched the forums but got lost in threads from when the player was in alpha.
]
Thanks again, and hopefully this feedback won't make yeahitsme too self-critical, but will just help make a few points clearer. ("NOW I'm talking about suited A3! NOW I've changed and am talking about rainbow hands!")

Most of the A3 hands I was referring to were suited. Hands like A35K, A34K are really strong, so not as important to be suited to the A, where I'll likely play them rainbow or monotone even. Hands like A34x I really want a suited A, the stronger X is(broadway or connector) the lower in importance this becomes.
The more disjointed the hand becomes, the harder it becomes to play. You want to consider the hands flopability(is that a word?), the more the cards work together while also creating nut potential(either flopped or drawn). So, A3's have one strike automatically against them, unless a 2 falls, it's the 2nd nut low. You want the side cards to hit top 2 pairs, straight/flush draws, etc.
Think about a hand like A38Js and what can happen with it. What it has going for it- NFD, 2nd low draw, 4 possible straights(3 nut, 1 non) and then the rare fh+'s. Whats bad about it- needs a 2 for nut low making reads critical, any paired A or 3 removes low possiblity(essentially), 2pr + low hands are virtually impossible to make and it's 2 pr hands alone are very weak. Consider the flop combos between A38Jss, A34Kr and A38Qds, thinking about pair(s), straight, flush, low and redraw/counterfeit possiblities.
A37Js is slightly better, simply because of the increased low equity and probably closer to my default bottom end(a line which varies depending on game conditions). Some A4's like A4BBds are worthwhile also because of their high strength.
I think when the pause the vid, timestamp comment is one of the 3 featured tabs.
Thanks, I appreciate the clarification.
You talked about playing high only hands from MP, do you ever limp high only hands (only the premium ones) in EP? Would you do this in very passive games or is this just too bad because of your positional disadvantage?
nice video, keep the plo8 coming!

The more passive the table, the more I'd consider it, but it also depends on peoples likelihood to stack off lighter post flop. They're really something I'd rather play IP in raised pots where I'll have some additional deceptive value.
Glad you like the series so far, after sweeps week this week, we're back w/danzasmack playing some live 6max.
