Link to the website I referenced in the video. Let me know if you guys have any questions -- trying to make it easier to install some of the tools we reference in our videos frequently.

Have not watched this video as I already have this installed. But something that caught me out.

I thought my PostgreSQL password was something like scvpass or svcpass, thankfully someone on the Deuces Cracked IRC channel suggested dbpass and that worked.

So just thought I would post this in case someone else finds the same.

Hey Sicka,

Can you explain the error messages you get? Vista is a bit of a pain but with UAC turned off isn't much harder than XP to get it up and running.

I got this for error. What is UAC and how do I turn it off? Will turning UAC off help?

Yeah this is going to be due to UAC.

Thank you. Up and running now! I got the HUD configured the way I want it. Pretty cool. Thanks again.

Having trouble...

So after downloading HEM, I click on the PostgreSQL install instructions tab, then go to the website and chose a mirror for the U.S. (does it matter which one?). Next I go through the steps of entering the passwords. After this is done, I try to install postgreSQL. This is where I have the problems. After 90% of the installation, i get an error message that says Service 'postgreSQL Database Server 8.2' failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privilegegs to start system services. Retry or Cancel". If i retry, I get the same error; if i cancel, it rolls back the installation. So, I went back and tried to reinstall the program from the beginning. I tried using db_password instead of my previously created one, and I now get an error that says unknown user name or password (even after uninstalling the program and deleting all cookies). So I go ahead and use the old password that I created. This works for this step, and I am now at the initialize database cluster screen, entered the passwords and click next and get another error. This data directory error says "the specified data directory is not empty. If you have an existing database w the same major version number, you do not need to initialize a database cluster". (This is where I'm currently stuck and don't know how to move on.) So the only way I have been able to get to the next step is to uncheck the initialize cluster box. If I do this, then I can click next and the program is installed and I am taken to the congratulation's page where you click "finished". However when I then go to HEM, type in my password and click connect, I get a connection error: failed to establish a connection to 127.0.0.1 So then I uninstalled the program and was going to go back through all of the steps, except now when I go to the download mirror page, I get an error that says "cant save the file for an unknown reason. Try saving to a different location" except it's automatically saving to my temp directory and doesn't let me chose where to save. So, I restarted the computer and went and tried again on my laptop. Identical problems as before, so now I figure it must be me making the mistakes although I copied the steps in your video exactly. Please tell me what I am doing wrong before I really start tilting!!

Thanks,
Danny

Hey Danny,

What OS are you running? Once you've gone partway through the installation it can be tricky to get things "reset" but I can definitely help as I've set this up a ton. Shoot an email to support@deucescracked.com and say "Entity said he'd help me" (in case Joe gets to the email before me) and I'll be in touch one way or another.
