The more active you are in the strategy forum and the more active you are in the member videos forum, the more likely you will be to have your video reviewed.
We really want to get people more involved, so here's your carrot to induce some community activity

My biggest weakness is 3 betting, playing in 3 bet pots, who to 3 bet with what, really just having a good game plan with 3 betting, defending against 3 bets, etc. So I would like to see a HH review that covers this area. Also to make a video for Alex to review, is there any other way to record a video that isn't as expensive as camtasia? thanks

You can try to get cam studio to work but I'll tell ya it's a huge pita. I've never been able to get it working properly.
We will try to do at least a part of one of the vids on 3 bet pots. I've got an idea of something a little different than previous methods of videos we can try.

Nice first episode I'm pumped for the rest of the series. As for suggestions I'm sure Alex is in a better position to judge or determine what he needs or wants to work on than I could suggest.
I like all the video formats, live sweats, video reviews, HH reviews, powerpoints, theory discussions... It's all good keep it coming
WoT you are right you need to update your blog... It's been forever... I didn't know you and your wife were expecting, congratulations, I wish you both the best.

Biggest pot of your life? Huh. A bit weird that you haven't gotten it in 2bi deep and won in about a year (?) Oh well. IMO, 3bet flop.
I'm kinda in the same situation as you now I think; big downswing --> huge loss of confidence in my game (well maybe this was you a few months ago or so) --> actual loss of quality of play --> bigger downswing --> ad infinitum. Hopefully this series will help me in getting my shit together again.
Best of luck to you with the PROFESSIONALISSSSMM, Alex. (Also, come to the DC IRC channel)

In Coaches Corner they show you how to set up CamStudio. It is a free (open source) recorder. Just does not have close to the bells and whistles as Cantasia.
Hope that helps you out.

it may not be the biggest, I am not sure to be honest. I chose not to 3 bet, as he was 4 betting a lot, I also felt there wasn't much fold equity vs this player so would of had to of fired multiple streets, with no idea as he had a wide pf calling range. I really expected to see ace ten here

Think he was talking about 3betting on the flop, not preflop.

Didn't read that properly, doh! I felt that I had the board so crushed was better to keep in his bluff range than let him off lightly. He had been taking hands to far, so time to let him hang himself.

Hey guys I was watching the video and wondering if you were going to say something about girlfriends, and in particular, having the right kind.
Fwiw, I firmly believe that a girlfriend/wife should be very, very supportive of you playing poker. If she is not supportive, of you playing poker, then mucking her is a decision which will save you unfathomable buy ins.
I would go so far as to say that a supportive women, in your life, is infinitely more important to the professional,in terms of $$$$, than the casual player.
There is nothing like a great gal to make you "run good."
G.l. and looking forward to the rest of the series.

Did i hear you say in this video that you were playing anonomusly on a Euro site?
Any chance of one episode on a Euro site rather than just FTP so we can see some different playing styles etc?

Couldn't agree more with all of this. It's very important to have your family be extremely supportive of your profession and the work it takes and the stress involved. Having people in your life that aren't supportive of poker is a bankroll killer and a stress creator.
I think I talked a bit about this in one of the Haj school episodes, but it's definitely worth repeating and we probably should have mentioned something about it in this video.
Thanks for watching

When I was playing in the UK and had a girlfriend, I found that after teaching her to play poker, she understood I was not just some gambler. After that she was quite supportive.

Hi,
I'd love to see some changes in BRM that come up by going pro. Howto manage monthly winnings etc. Would be also interesting to hear your thoughts about "what to do when I fail to go pro". I'm very happy to follow this season after micro nl grinder 1&2, good job!

When I was working I was playing 1-2hrs a day. Studying 0-1 hr a day. Then more on weekends.
Still trying to get my daily grind up and running.
But tends to look like this.
8.00am - 9.30 am - Hand reviews/Sweat with a poker friend
10.00am - 12.00 - Session
12.00 - 1.00 pm Study/Videos/Hand reviews posting
2.00 - 4.00 pm Session
From then onwards I do what I feel like....It is definatelu something I am working on.

I think that this week I am going to put my own video in there for people to tear apart. Already recorded it. Hopefully it is interesting....certainly butchered a few hands.
Think in the next off week, I am want to do a video review of a members video either 25nl or 50nl. Just need to discuss with Aaron.

I would like to see some focus on playing out of position well. I have found myself 3b more OOP in order to have initiative and make it easier to play, but I know there are hands like 89s that I should be flatting oop in certain spots. Then I'll x/r a draw, get called, and will have to likely give up or fire a 2nd barrel. Basically, I would like to see a HH review video where you take a bunch of hands that you call with out of the blinds and describe the different ways to play it that make it more profitable to call rather than 3b or fold.

I would like to know how much the blind defense is a crucial part of the game and how to approach it vs regulars.

One topic I would like to see covered is exploiting leaks in Regs games. You mention this in the video and I would love to see an in depth discussion on this. For myself winning or not losing against the regs is a big issue.

Is the worst part of going pro that you have to play even when you don't feel like it? I find it always feels really crummy to get spanked when you didn't feel like playing in the first place and that's when its most likely to happen. Is there any testing of the waters or do you guys play every session scheduled/available unless you feel really out of sorts?
Given how fast you can kill your profits when steaming in pl/nl games, can you really put in long hours? I switch to a fixed limit game when I'm not at 90%+ to avoid making those huge spews that accompany an nl session gone awry. What do you guys do when b-game sets in?
One last question; When you play do you think about things like your posture, breathing and mindset? Do you talk to yourself (even just internally) about the ongoing game situations, like you would in a training video or are you robotic and in the moment like when riding a bike or playing a video game?

At the moment, I am not having many days that I don't feel like playing. But I have had the odd afternoon. When it happens I tend to do something else with my time. I put in enough hours that not playing a 2 hr session is not going to make it a tight month. I am spending a lot of time trying to work on not looking at results. Playing well should be the most important thing. Results should be secondary. If you are not 100% then you shouldn't play. I will also stop a session early if I am losing focus, or playing badly.
I think that self awareness becomes super important. Hence my evaluation cards. One thing to think about is that if you spew one buy in, that is going to take 1k hands to get it back as a minimum. I still play to much when I am not on my A-game, and need to work on stepping away from the game when downswinging. The more I have thought about this, I strongly believe that the big winners in the game are the ones that deal with running bad the best. When things are going bad, this is the time to study harder, post more hands, watch more videos. It is not the time to put in more hands.
Posture I need to work on a lot. Looking into chairs at the moment....Breathing is great (in general really helps you live). But when you have a bad beat, taking a long breath helps on a number of levels. It increases the oxygen flow, it lets you get away from the table for a minute as you are focusing on your breathing. It can also be used as a reset to get back in the moment. I have written down all the steps that I go through to arrive at crazy monkey tilt, with the idea being that I can indetify it earlier again with self awareness.
Sorry if I have rambled, hope your questions have been answered.

Nice to see you back Alex. I really loved the first serie. Hopefully putting all you energy to being pro and playing poker, deminishes your tilting.
Atleast for me, it's the only reason i'm not winning more and moving up faster.
