Looking at the KTs hand. Which hands do you push the river and when do you prefer a check-call?
IWEARGOGGLES hears the members and takes your suggestions to heart playing 4-tables of regular nightly tournaments and discuss his play throughout.

To be honest I think I'm just shoving most non-board pairing clubs since I have no history with this player. I think a turn bet is good because it will fold out hands that call the flop with no plan. For instance, I think I can fold out low FDs and all sorts of mid pairs. This is a good thing considering I'm OOP and I can't really think about c/c with K high on most rivers, etc.
I don't think I'd c/c very often at all on the river.
definitely like the live format to the hand replayer. seeing decisions made on the spot and hearing commentary while it happens is better
I really like this format, real time decisions and also your answers and insights during the down time made for a great vid.
loved the video luke. I really like the live play format personally. I am a guy who does not use stats other than when i was playing this summer and would use it for early game in mtts when running alot of tables. I even would go as far as to turn off my stats late as in my expierience using things like gameflow and seeing when people are trying to fold to higher pay jumps greatly influences their choices. Any sorry for the ramble(we both do that) but i like your live thought process and just seeing how you make your choices. I think you play very well and would like to see more. thanks!
Thanks for the comments. Looks like I'll be locking the kittens in the bathroom more often. ![]()
An earlier video of yours is one of the first I watched (new member), and I've gotta say, I love this video out of most I've seen so far.
Love the live play format, and love the commentary over the top. Makes for a much more interesting video.
Thanks ![]()

is this not a good spot to reship over a 6bb shove w/ A3s? (upper left)
edit: doh, lost the time stamp. http://www.deucescracked.com/videos/1301-IWEARGOGGLES-8-Late-Night-Live-Play?seek=2842
oh and loved the video, i like this format much better than the re-player stuff especially filling in dead air w/ forum questions.
Finally finished watching the whole thing. Very good video & format. The combination of playing & explaining moves plus answering questions from the forum was great. As for the cats, reminded me of my video with Bones where my 2 cats were in heat & you could hear them agonizing lol.
nice format...lookin forward for the next one
4 tabling works out just nice...

It's probably a call, but a close one I assume.
why fold 55 in the lower right table??
You mean lower left? I have 17.5BBs in MP with no antes. I don't think I can profitably raise/fold and I don't think it is a profitable open shove.
If there were antes I think a shove would be good.

Could it be a leak to want to make most of my play preflop. ie 3betting too much or a least more then the average according to HEM.
I always thought I would have a better idea of the other player range.?.?

I think M really helps for newer players when antes start. I see in live games new players (and old men long time players) want to play too tight when the blinds and antes are too high, but when I came to the internet it seemed more people were "still playing" when the blinds and antes got up there maybe that is a function of seeing the chip amount easily. But I think things like M have helped people open up more.

I agree. For MTT's keeping track of your M is valuable.
Great video. I think I just found why I am not getting deep in MTT lately.
I used to play your/similar style but I have been making myself tighten up a lot maybe too much. I also used to do a lot of stealing on those dry flops etc etc.
Do you think tight is right works for STT and not so much for MTT?
I always base it on the "players" or the flow of the game as to weather I am going to play one way or the other but does the generalist principle apply more often then not?

It's not a bad thought but it increases variance astronomically. I can talk about this more in another video.

I guess one small counterpoint is instead of saying "I have 20BBs" when there are antes (because that isn't descriptive enough" you could just say "I have 20BBs in the ante level" or something.
I'm not saying its stupid I just come from a time before M so I'll never change. ![]()

To keep it short, tight is right is mathematically correct in SNGs, but not in MTTs. I can get to this more later.

Yes I would look forward to this I have changed my preflop attitude a lot for STTs. (I love MTT but have no time for it currently (maybe if I win a million lol)).

This would also be extremely interesting! My dad plays like this and I have not been able to adopt this type of play even though he is dominating while I am just breaking even. He also plays a very high vpip game in the 180 rebuys on stars and is killing what I can do.
Hey Luke,
Nice vid. Definitely enjoy the live format to get a feel for gameflow and how your image affects different decisions. The more you can answer questions or share your general MTT wisdom during the dead moments like you did here, the better.
I'm a cash player in the process of learning MTTs. Your vids were recommended to me and having watched all of them now they've definitely been helpful.
What do you think are the biggest or most frequent mistakes decent thinking cash players who lack MTT experience make when playing MTTs?
Thanks.
Around 54:30 you say you have no reason for 3betting 99 against 48/18 guy opening from UTG with 35bb stack...
As a cash player I don't understand this, shouldn't you be fistpump shipping this? It's not like you're gonna get your money in good postflop unless you hit a set but if you 3bet pre that guy would probably reship pretty much any pair and AQ+ so I wouldn't mind 3bet/calling.
Is 6max tourneys really that much nittyer than cash that you can't ship 99 for 35bb against UTG opener?
I love the format. 4-tabling a live session is probably the best format for MTT vids. 10 minute discussion on one hand can be nice but that's what forums are for ... most people are losing players because they make mistakes in standard spots that come up every orbit but don't get posted on the forums. Seeing which hands you fold, 3bet or flat is so much more valuable than discussing 4-5 hands.
btw: if you run out of random questions to go over during dead time, you can also talk about the plays other people make at the tables .. what the best line with hand XX would have been and so on.
pls more live MTT vids!
Looking forward to watch this video.
I am playing more MTT's, the ones with X.000$ GTD on pokerstars, so this is a must for me to watch. The only diference is the buy in, I play the micro MTT's but I guess the strategy is not so diferent and the video will be usefull at this level also.

Thanks for the comments, but don't forget its more about the why. Why I raise this hand, that hand, etc.
Spending a long time on a hand can make the why more obvious.
I'll keep doing this though!

The biggest mistake would definitely be not understanding short stack situations. When to resteal, what stack sizes to open, all that fun stuff.
I really like this live format, I think you're doing a great job so please keep them coming

I would be really interested in when you do get into this more. As far as how much more you loosen up and which types of players you take advantage of. I understand it on a basic level, but I think a lot of people could benefit from expansion on the topic.
Really enjoyed this type of video, please make more!
Great vid, love the format especially the stream of poker consciousness that flows in the down time.

In the AA hand on the bottom left, from the perspective of the player in the BB. What kind of range would you be looking to get involved with in regards to how polarised and strong your range looks to be? For example what would you do in the BB facing that raise with QQ or AK?
