Really looking forward to this!
Saibot outlines the full series and begins to talk about goal setting and preparing the proper mindset prior to a session.
In this series Saibot will be covering aspects such as: Goal-setting, how to increase your learning curve, productivity/putting in more volume and other essentiel "meta-game" aspects. The series will also contain some interesting/in depth HH reviews where Saibot will describe advanced NLHE concepts.
Premium Subscribers can download high-quality, DRM-free videos in multiple formats.
Really looking forward to this!
I like the off the table stuff=money earned, I always know what things are good for me but putting a specific money value on them is just awesome.
And now when I have sexy time with my GF I am actually getting paid! I'm such a slut
Oh and Saibot unless you planned all eps already can you dedicate one to neurotransmitters plz?
Really good idea. I need to renew my subscription once you have all of these available so I can watch the entire series.
Thoroughly enjoyed this, looking forward to the rest of the series. While many of the ideas are available in other series, there are some twists I hadn't heard before/thought of before, some ideas I hadn't heard applied to poker specifically before, and the presentation is very well done.

Why you guys always go to google for pics, take a snap of yourself, who doesn't have a webcam or a camera phone thse days ![]()

What about background music (like trance)?
Also Saibot, you mentioned smart goals, what are good medium to long term goals in poker?
I find that with working on specific concepts like 3betting, playing from blinds...is either short term or it changes a lot and it's hard to put it down as a measurable time bound goal.
Likewise, money goals you just don't have any control over.
And being better than villains, not tilting, etc, is just not specific and measurable enough either.
really really good video after I just dumped 1.5K last night due to tilt.
I was not able to make some fold that i normally would if i was playing my B+ game...
Thx for the infor, can you tell us more about the things you can do to untilt yourslef after you are tilted.
Thank you again.
Nothing new, yet but nice reminders. Looking forward to the rest.
Your blog/site doesn't work btw. Just a message saying it will be up again next year due to maintenance.
Looking forward to this
!
as soon as I heard your accent I was thinking that you must atleast be scandinavian, will look over your blog.
@slycebu
Ty, very appreciated
@Doc:
"Why you guys always go to google for pics, take a snap of yourself, who doesn't have a webcam or a camera phone thse days"
Hehe, good point. I will do that in the future
"So how do you stop being upset?"
I will elaborate on that further into the series
"What about background music (like trance)?"
I def. think that background music can be a good idea. I would not see that as a distraction.

I am not sure I understand your question. Can you maybe try asking it in another way?
@MaoMao
Ty - Glad you found it helpfull
@chewchew/Code
I am at the moment working on some upgrades to my blog. Therefore it is not online right now. It will probably take
some time before it is up and running again.

What are good SMART medium to long term goals in poker.
I'd like to know in general areas and get some specific examples.
Ahr, ok. I miss-read the first time. A good medium to long term goal could for example be:
â€I want to always develop and work with my game, and only play when I am feeling well. I will strive to always be focused on my decisions rather than my results. I wanna game select well and have a solid BRMâ€
The good thing about this goal is that it is process oriented instead of results oriented. IE: You have way more control over this goal then if your goal is:
"My goal is to win 30 buy-in's this month"
BUT:
You obv. need to break the goal down into more specific measurable pieces. For example:
How many hours pr. week do you wanna work with your game?
How are you going to measure when you are feeling well?
What is good game-selection in your opinion?
What do you consider solid BRM
Etc.
But stay tuned.... I will go deeper into goal-setting as the series progress
Could you give examples of your warmup and cooldown routines?
@gazavat
Yep, a couple of warmup examples:
Watching poker videos
Playing a short session at lower stakes
Taking a joint session with a poker buddy
Looking at HH from last session
Doing some math EV calculations
I don't think I mentioned anything about cooling down - But I think the most optimal way to end a session is going over some of the interesting/tough spots in a replayer. -And talking with friends about the spots / posting them on forums
@Saibot:
I plan to not watch this series, but to listen to the MP3-Version - In general I treat it thi way with most mindsetseries.
-> the reason for that is that moslty the PP-slides are not sooo super-important to get out most of the keypoints.
But i don`t know in which direction the other part will go.
So would you agree, that it is basically enough to "only" listen to the MP3-version to get the keypoints?
Or will be the slides in further parts more important?
I agree with you. I think you can watch the series without the slides. And it will also be uploaded in mp3 and mp4. But later in the series I will include some HH reviews. When I do that it will obv be an advantage with visuals

Ok, cool - thanks for answering![]()

FWIW, the subject I enjoyed the most, Physics, was not the subject I was best at. I was best at math, but didn't enjoy it very much. I rathe took the math as a tool, to lead me to physics. Like a car commuting me to work. It was a LOT of work and I was by far not the best in my class most of the time during college, in fact sometimes, I just barely scraped by. But I finally made it, my physics PhD! When in reality, I think I would've had the stuff to do math much easier, I even started some pure math classes to make it my minor, aced them all, but didn't enjoy them, because I never saw the applicability.

I had never really thought about playing short sessions at lower stakes but I can definatly see the benifits. A lot of my session graphs have a destinct "U" shape to them where I'm playing sub-optimally at the start of a session. If I can halve the steepness of the downward part of my sessions then I'll definatly making more money.
P.S. I misread your 3rd point as "Taking a joint with a poker buddy". I guess that's one way to warm up.
Anyway, great series. Keep up the good work.

A warm up I like is to load up a couple of tables and just watch & take notes for 5-10 minutes before I sit down and play. Helps my get into the poker mindset and I have reads on the players before I sit down.
@Slide
Nice. Good idea ![]()
Just getting around to watching this series and I really enjoy the material that you are presenting. As slycebu mentioned, a lot of these ideas are not new and can be found other places, but I like the way that you're putting them together. I see many similarities to the ways that we think about a lot of the "meta" aspects of poker and look forward to getting through the rest of the series. ![]()
This has been a great video..not only for poker, but for other parts of my life as well. Your English is very good for a non-native speaker...thanks for this!

Thank you! :-)
Great start of the serie! I will definatly start working out more and maybe continue training with my floorball team even that I don't wanna play matches anymore.
Also fun with a scandinaivan videomaker! ![]()
the video is all screwed up for me in the first two episodes, both the online and the download
the rest of the series seems to work fine though. i really don't wanna start at episode 3 and miss out on the information in the first two episodes ![]()
Whatup Saibot.
Hvor er det cool, med en dansk coach på DC!, som endda lægger nogle meget spændende emner op, som jeg er sikker på vil hjælpe mig til at "approche" mit poker meget bedre og mere udbytterigt.
Props herfra ![]()

Well done, great video!
I really liked this video, all of the things you talk about are undisputedly more important then raw skill.
The chess reference was excelent, although i thought you were going to say preparation.
The way that all the top chess players prepare for matches, by studying their oponnents playng style and tendencies such as : Favorite opennings, middle game and end game strategy, and creating counters of their own.
That being said i think the younger generations myself included, are prone of making quick decisions, rather then slowly and rationaly deducting all of the factors in the hand, and using the time bank for all it`s purpose.
Sports, eating healthy and all of the above, are also of huge importance for being successful i think in any field in life today.
Great video, thanks.

You identified this very well. I recognize this behaviour for myself; instant decisions and checking my HM every 30 seconds.
P.S. I misread your 3rd point as "Taking a joint with a poker buddy". I guess that's one way to warm up.
This should be more one of the "cooling down parts" of your session ![]()
