I'm going to criticize a little bit here, but I hope that it's taken well Smile First for the compliments: I think this series has awesome potential. I think that Jason is a very good poker mind and is excellent at explaining his thoughts. I enjoyed your contribution to both FTGU and PLO Dojo! And, I have no doubts that Kasino is just as capable. Now for the criticism: I am fairly disappointed with the series so far. I understand that it is supposed to be a very raw beginner's guide to PLO, but I think you guys have gone quite a bit overboard on that. I mean, do we really need two full episodes about nothing more than explaining how we need to consider HU vs. MW, position, pot size, stack sizes, player tendencies, board texture, etc.. when making our decisions? I mean that is too basic and it applies just as much to 2-7 Triple draw as it does to Badugi, as it does to NLHE, as it does to PLO. Rather than two full episodes on a discussion of that stuff, flanked by 2 examples... I would suggest that the theoretically abstract discussion only need to last 5-10 min. total, followed by 15 examples where the concepts can be discussed in the more concrete context of a PLO hand. But, having said that, I did read through all of the other comments for last week's episode and it appears that I am in the minority Smile Again, I look forward to the rest of the series and I stress my respect for the coaches.. just my two cents.

good point! i remember back in 4th grade we used to double-space our "reports". lol.. anyway, just for you:

1. much respect for the coaches and their abilities

2. material was too general. should be a series on "Poker Fundamentals 101". not specific enough to PLO.

3. look forward to the rest of the series.

4. currently at 2.8 stars out of 5... and I did not vote yet (i normally don't vote unless i think a video is OUTSTANDING).. but i will vote and give this a 3, thus bringing the average up!!

5. you spelled critisizm wrong! (just to show how silly the gramatical jibs are in context).

General is good. The coaches are trying to teach the thought process. Poker fundamentals might be the same but they are trying to teach the context of PLO. How many of us 3bet in holdem to increase our equity and get pot heads up? Omaha is different and the coaches are trying to give a general framework where we can operate.

Finally remember that this is for beginners like me. We have too many live action videos even in Omaha anyway.

So far I think the series has been good. I think they're hesitant to show a lot of specific hands because there are way too many hand combinations to generate any general advice in an hour long video. The vast majority of poker players are fundamentally lazy (myself included) and focusing on this stuff in the beginning will only increase your edge, because nobody else wants to bother with it. There are a number of Ghost videos and series that have live play and are good supplements to this series, so if that's what you're looking for, I'd check out PLO Dojo or Michaelsc's first series.

I think that if you look at the majority of posts in the PLO section of the forum, these videos are very good in that the majority of posts involve a lot of very common spots.

If you are looking for how to maneuver in more tricky spots PLO Dojo is amazing in that it tackles the important tools you will need.

The PLO forums currently have a ton of hands where a marginal preflop decision creates disgusting flop/turn decisions so I think this series should be great for the community since there still seems to be some struggle with preflop/flop decisions.

Hey all star if it's too easy for u, then skip an episode. Some of us are not professionals like u. Thanx to the DC coaches for not assuming everyone already knows how to play Omaha in a introduction to Omaha series. Allstar keep crushing the nosebleeds im suprised u are not a coach.

Hey guys,

Not specific to this episode, but just wanted to say that, in my admittedly amateur opinion, I think this is a pretty fantastic series so far. As someone new to PLO and DC (I have a ton of good things to say about the site in general), I'm finding this very helpful and am extremely impressed.

As an even more general side note, I've played recreationally for quite a while, time and money permitting, but never devoted any real energy to improving my game. This certainly won't be a revelation for anyone reading this, but after just a few episodes it's already becoming apparent just how much your money is really made away from the table. Looking forward to continuing my poker education with you guys.
