I've never had to post when sitting down. Just wait for the button to pass and you can play for free once you're in the cut off... one of tiny perks of playing live....
Re seat preference - I agree with you - not just because of the room but they are the easiest seats to be able to see everyone at the table, the 1 and 9/10 seats are the worst imo.
