I think I prefer check/pot because you probably win more money against Tx and stuff. If people are too passive donking is good. Folding pre is probably what could be done better, though it's not...
I guess my standard defend range would be roughly

3x (fold 36/38 against tight opponent)
and often will play something I wouldn't otherwise play if I have blockers ...
