Happy Winter Deucescrackers!

Matt and I are proud to be offering round *8* of our Beginner Whack'Em Course with the tentative start date of SUNDAY, 2/28/2010 (pending full enrollment, class start can be delayed to attain full enrollment). The group is designed for aspiring 10-25-50NL players that want over 12 hours of coaching at an affordable price.

Our program will run on Sundays at 1:30pm EST and will consist of 5 group sessions and 2 individual lessons, one with each coach. The group lessons will consist of Powerpoint lecture, HH examples, group HH discussion, and one lucky student group video review in the last week. We anticipate the group sessions will be at least 2 hours depending on the discussion, and each individual lesson will be at least 1 hour. We will also give students access to a private group forum for discussions and posting of HHs throughout the course.

The rough outline of the curriculum is as follows:

Week 1 - The Poker Mindset (Bankroll, Variance, Tools for Success)
Week 2 - Preflop (Basic Ranges, Isolation Theory AKA Widening your Range, Playing OOP, When to 3-bet)
Week 3 - Flop Play (C-Betting, Board Textures, and Playing w/out the Initiative)
Week 4 - Later Street Play; Getting Value vs. Getting Away
Week 5 – Group Video Review

Tentative dates: Feb 28, Mar 7, Mar 14, Mar 28, April 4

*WE ARE SKIPPING MARCH 21 DUE TO CONFLICT*

Matt will give the first round of individual sessions sometime around Week 3, and I will follow up at the conclusion of the course to help you put all the concepts into practice. These lessons will likely be video reviews, but just like any other personal coaching session, you guys can feel free to bring tough HHs, or if you want your stats/DB looked at we can do that too.

We do allow students to record the individual sessions and we make the best effort to record the group vid/audio and make the powerpoint slides available for all. (No problems with this in the last course, but no guarantees as recording long videos can be a PITA.)

The package costs $375, so all in all, you'll get 12+ hours of comprehensive coaching for around $30/hr. Again we hope this will cater to some of you microstakes guys that can't afford personal coaching. And just like our personal coaching, you can feel free to contact us with HHs and whatnot throughout the course of the program and beyond. Furthermore, Matt and I are both offering discounted rates ($45/$80) for Whack'Em students that would like to continue having sessions once the course is complete.

Anyway, if you have questions please let us know in the thread, or by PM if you so desire. We are accepting the first 8 students to send in a $50 deposit, contact me or Matt via PM for options.

Thanks everyone!

i didn't get a PM from you so you might want to resend it...as for your question, we are all on Skype at the same time via conference call and each lesson consists of a powerpoint lecture with hand examples, and students are encouraged to ask as many questions as they like. the very final lesson is a video review so there is no powerpoint but i will take turns asking you guys questions related to the course material and the hands that come up in the vid.

Sent a PM as well to steve

figured i'd post here in case others have the same question: if you miss a lesson you still get access to the powerpoint and to the video (assuming no problems in production). you can also feel free to ask me any questions via skype or to post in our forum if you need clarification after watching the lesson.

p.s. you aren't related to a mike feener from boston are you? longshot probably but he was one of my poker buddies from sophomore year of college. we called him feener of course so you can imagine my surprise when i saw your PM!

Cool. I'm in. Can you PM the payment info? No relation to Mike Feener here. Oddly enough Feener was my nickname in highschool because of my love of the band Phish.

registration has been slow, so it seems likely that we will be postponing one week, but I will make the final decision on either Friday or Saturday.

(ps sorry i didn't get to your PM sooner)

I sent a PM to Steve but just in case you didn't see it...Do I have to pay in full? or can i pay by session? I mean I will make sure I attend all the sessions and i will still pay if I miss a session but It would be easier on me if I could do that? or do you guys have to get the full amount up front? Thanks. And also...Do i have to be a DC member to hire a private coach like steve?

hey rchang, i actually have not received a PM from you. please resend i guess? as for your questions, unfortunately we require the full payment up front. we do allow non-paying dc members to join the group but i think its a bit of a waste to spend $375 on coaching and not suck it up for the additional $30/month, esp since we will be referring to supplemental videos.

anyway, still looking to fill this thing by next weekend, 3/7/2010 with a few seats available, gogogogo!
