If you think that calling will be profitable or close, I\'m not sure that his ranges will be such that you\'ll earn more given the investment required by raising, but it might be close, depending on how he might play an Ace-high or King-high flush draw. I\'d say in general here, given the size of the pot, that folding > calling > raising, but that\'s largely based on how he played the last hand and that he showed down as he did.

CROSSPOST FROM THE SSSH FORUM @ 2p2

Villain is fairly new. Seems at bit on the bad LAG side. I would guess something like 35/17 stats and a bit difficult to read.

This hand happened 5-10 hands before the hand in question

Party 10/20
Pre-flop: 5 players
Hero is Button with 7h 8h
Hero raises, SB 3-bets,BB caps, Hero calls, SB calls.

Flop: 9h8d7s(12SB, 3 players)
SB checks, BB bets, Hero raises, SB calls, BB folds.

Turn:3c (8.5BB, 2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, SB calls.

River: Kh (10.5BB, 2 players)
SB bets, Hero raises, SB calls.

Results:
Final pot: 14.5BB
SB doesn\'t show KcJs

Ok, so the hand in question

Party 10/20

Pre-flop: 6 players
Hero is Button with 9cQs
3 folds, Hero raises, SB folds, BB calls.

Flop:6cJcTh (4.5SB, 2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets, BB calls.

Turn: Td (3.25BB, 2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets, BB calls.

River: 2s (5.25BB, 2 players)
BB bets, Hero raises..??

The raise was kind of an Elindauer raise that a user at 2p2 has introduced me to. Because calling is sometimes, if not always, correct on the river I figured what the hell and popped it. Oh and I dont think he has a J or T very often

Say you are bet into on the river and the pot offers 6:1. If you think you need to call you can raise and for 1 more bet and win 6+1=7 bets. So since you would have called anyway the bluff is offering you 7:1 odds. Say you dont have a hand worth calling, then you spend 2 bets raising trying to win the pot such that the bluff play is offering you 3:1 odds.

In other words, when you think you should call a river bet you should consider raising if there is some (better) hands in villains range that he might fold.

An example is if a TAG bets into you on a AKTJx river and you have TP. You need to call but by raising you may fold some two pair hands or some TP hands that you chop with.

this concept is beyond me.
however, I think there is good reason to believe your Q high is good. this guy will play anything. and the flop was very draw heavey. he may have the low end of the str. or two small clubs. even Q8
I would call. can you explain this Elindauer \"value/bluff\" river raise, please.
he might fold a king, but I dont see much else.
if Villain was planning on trying to take it away from you/or had a big hand ...why didnt he raise you on the turn and bet the river?(if all the draws missed)
his donk..seems weird here. monster/crap?
