Hey there DC!

Matt and I are proud to be offering round *7* of our Beginner Whack'Em Course with the tentative start date of SUNDAY, 1/10/2010 (pending full enrollment, class start can be delayed to attain full enrollment). The group is designed for aspiring 10-25-50NL players that want over 12 hours of coaching at an affordable price.

Our program will run on Sundays at 1:30pm EST and will consist of 5 group sessions and 2 individual lessons, one with each coach. The group lessons will consist of Powerpoint lecture, HH examples, group HH discussion, and one lucky student group video review in the last week. We anticipate the group sessions will be at least 2 hours depending on the discussion, and each individual lesson will be at least 1 hour. We will also give students access to a private group forum for discussions and posting of HHs throughout the course.

The rough outline of the curriculum is as follows:

Week 1 - The Poker Mindset (Bankroll, Variance, Tools for Success)
Week 2 - Preflop (Basic Ranges, Isolation Theory AKA Widening your Range, Playing OOP, When to 3-bet)
Week 3 - Flop Play (C-Betting, Board Textures, and Playing w/out the Initiative)
Week 4 - Later Street Play; Getting Value vs. Getting Away
Week 5 – Group Video Review

Tentative dates: January 10, 17, 24, 31, and February 7

Matt will give the first round of individual sessions sometime around Week 3, and I will follow up at the conclusion of the course to help you put all the concepts into practice. These lessons will likely be video reviews, but just like any other personal coaching session, you guys can feel free to bring tough HHs, or if you want your stats/DB looked at we can do that too.

We do allow students to record the sessions and we make the best effort to record the group audio and make the powerpoint slides available for all. (No problems with this in the last course, but no guarantees.)

The package costs $375, so all in all, you'll get 12+ hours of comprehensive coaching for around $30/hr. Again we hope this will cater to some of you microstakes guys that can't afford personal coaching. And just like our personal coaching, you can feel free to contact us with HHs and whatnot throughout the course of the program and beyond. Furthermore, Steve and I are both offering discounted rates ($45/$80) for Whack'Em students that would like to continue having sessions once the course is complete.

Anyway, if you have questions please let us know in the thread, or by PM if you so desire. We are accepting the first 8 students to send in a $50 deposit, contact me or Matt via PM for options.

Thanks everyone!

This is probably a difficult question to answer but how much experience would an "ideal" student have looking to join this group?

Would I benefit more by waiting and studying/playing a few more months and then signing up for another session?

Also, assuming the people who are willing to pay for this program are also willing to put the time into learning... How has their progress been since they finished the course? Have any of them successfully moved up stakes? Are there any student reviews of the course that I could be linked to?

Thanks a ton!

Hey thomics.
In response to your question about moving up stakes. I'd like to clarify my case. I used to play CAP game NLHE at the limits 0.5/1.
I was able not lose, or even earn a little bit but was not really able to beat the game.
After the first 2 sessions, and especially the preflop course, I beat that limit without any problem and moved up to 1/2 and sometimes 2/4 still CAP game. It was really about preflop thinking, and I didn't really think about things they said.

Now, after a while, due to my finals I can not attend the courses, so I watch it at another time but I can guarantee you that I am pretty comfortable playing from 1/2 to 3/6 cap game, and this would be thanks to only the 2 first sessions...

Assume whatever you want and I do not want to change your mind but I think that at some point, if you really wanna improve your game, you have to follow this kind of course.

Well, if you have any further questions, do not hesitate to ask them...

Aloha and merry Xmas,

Hey g.swennen thanks a lot for the reply.

I think this course would be awesome. I remember reading about it a while back when it was in an earlier version, but I'm just not sure that I can really justify to myself paying almost $400 dollars for coaching when I am just recently able to call myself a winning player... ish.

It makes it even harder when you rationalize how cheap it is hourly. It seems like such an awesome deal... I don't know Smile lol

Again thanks for the reply it was really helpful!

When will you guys be offering the next course? Are you planning on doing this until there isn't any more interest in the group? Thanks Smile

How we coming guys? If we don't get enough and I miss another opportunity to work with Steve I might have to /wrist.

I've finally got back everything I lost in November and I blame that all on Steve for not coaching me. I'm positive it had nothing to do with my massive tilting either.
