Thanks again, to those 3 or 4 people who took the time to make decent informative posts.
I did not post a response immediately to a couple of them, because I want to be respectful to the valid points in their argument -- rather then just discredit everything (one sided).

I do still have a few legitimate points/concerns regarding my position on this topic. I will post them later, as I really need to finish an exam this week. Way behind schedule.

That's the default state of every post. It would just be a redundancy.

I think I was being generous to call such a situation a catch 22, I for one can forgive the millions looking to escape poverty for giving the west the finger here. I don't know how I could tell the 3rd world to restrict industrialization(and all the amenities it brings) so they can have less cars so us westerns don't get rust on ours. And Western problems are trivial if its rusting cars your worried about, something that would not take a monumental technological feat to prevent.

Who said that? Industrializing nations in fact recently reached some agreements on cutting emissions, but I am definitely on the side of letting them do way more than we do. That is in fact my point - us not cutting our emissions because they aren't cutting theirs is stupid. We industrialized already. We bear more responsibility for the situation and are also more capable of stepping up to the plate than they are. The western world should be cutting their pollution drastically, and the industrializing world should be cutting their pollution where they can. They do have an opportunity to start with some degree of alternative solutions as opposed to having to retrofit pollution mitigation. But I certainly never said they shouldn't be allowed to industrialize. I think what they do is irrelevant to what we should be doing.

This thread has run it's course. I'm fully supportive of some non-poker discussion on the DC forums, but we're a poker strategy site, and a community that has bonded around that topic. Some topics become too hostile and divisive for us to have a productive discussion around them, and given the fact that none of us are either climatologists or aspiring to be, I don't think this thread contributes much at this point to a better poker learning environment, which is our goal.
