right it's (450+189):450 not 189:450... little worse than 3-2



That's what I did. It's $450 to call to win $639 right? Isn't that 1.42:1? Last I checked that came out to 70.4% or am I crazy?

With no money in the pot, a river call would need 50% equity, so it's impossible for you to need more than 50% to call a river bet unless you have to call more than the guy bet.

450/(450+639)=41%



Thanks for the clarification. The math side is still something that I'm trying to work on improving. Smile I just didn't know that you had to add our $450 to the pot. I was just doing $450/$639

The way I remember it is Risk/(Risk + Reward).

Here's a handy sanity check, barring odd circumstances you don't need more than 50% equity to call in a cash game.

It's 450 to win 1089 or 41.32%. I really do appreciate this guys. I am used to being the new guy though and in this game, it's been my experience that it's important to question and defend yourself.
