lol nawhead i love your rambles. you seem like, in fact you are the modern day bobby fisher. It's like you're having a conversation with yourself at times

i'm pretty sure I3betyoutilyoudie is DC's Bobby Fischer. i'm actually going for a slightly more functional Rain Man vibe.

I haven't looked at this thread in awhile, but I ate a Polish sausage fried in bacon grease just now- and I feel amazing.

actually, i live on McDoubles (i just pick off most of the bun as i'm eating it). and i love Popeye's fried chicken (about 10g carbs per piece). people probably think i have freak genetics or run marathons everyday if they see me eating in public.

How do you feel about vegetable oils since you seem to eat meat cooked in it? Are you picky on your fat sources (ie, do you try and balance Omega 6/Omega 3 in a ratio form 3:1)?

Interesting. Not saying it's a good or bad idea but... interesting.

As a huge coffee addict who like trying out every way of brewing coffee I'm definitely going to try this out at some point.

i'm fine with it. no, i don't balance my oils, but i'm constantly tweaking my diet. but it's tweaking to simplify, not to make more esoteric. right now i'm basically just avoiding everything i'm allergic to by order of severity: dairy, peanuts, sugar, bread.

today i had 2 Junior Bacon cheeseburgers w/o cheese and a cape cod sandwich (batter fried) from Wendy's. combined the burgers into one, then picked off most of the bun as i ate it. i was consciously eating some of the bun on the JBC's cause i like the taste of ketchup (HFCS!!! omg!!!). then i ate the batter-fried fish with a fork.

and btw, i stopped eating Popeye's. it's too salty. i don't have anything against salt, but it's too much when my tongue is numb from the salt afterwards. and also hot wings. not enough fat. and my body can't take hot stuff anymore.

i'm not anal about this if you haven't figured it out by now. i just care about getting the basic theory correct. i see it similarly as the difference between focusing on frequency vs expected value in poker. if you just care about frequency of very minute mistakes preflop (omega-3 v omega-6 oils), you're stressing yourself for no good reason. but if you care about EV, you focus on the big and medium mistakes postflop (eating bread, over-consuming carbs) that have a much greater impact in the long run.

(edit: and i probably mean another word than "frequency," maybe just small mistakes w/o a clear disadvantage vs big mistakes)

and since i'm here... here's a recent high profile celeb endorsement for low carb eating: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQW-DK-E_qI

here's a clearer delineation of my eating philosophy, if it can be called all that:

OK: insignificant/unproven mistakes of high frequency (i.e. ratio of omega fats)

OK: significant mistakes of very low frequency (i.e. having a "cheat" day)

BAD: significant mistakes of medium to high frequency (i.e. 100+ grams of simple carbs/day)

VERY BAD: very significant mistakes of very low frequency (i.e. black swan events. or in dietary terms, eating a pound of black tar heroin one day)

tl;dr? skipped to the conclusion. Wink

for optimal weight loss, go low carb high fat. it produces metabolic changes that decreases hunger as well as decreases resting energy consumption. win-win. then you could add in some low glycemic index foods once at your goal weight (if worried about the possibility of cardiovascular dangers based on some observational studies).
