Yes there is a difference between simple and complex. Fruit is complex carb so you can basically eat them as much as you want and not get fat, even 3000-4000kcal per day. Then there's complex carbs such as rice which is a starch and you will get fat from over-eating them.

I'm not sure if pasta is simple or complex but white pasta isn't good for you. Anything that has been processed really can't be good because when you remove the fiber, you will get high blood sugar level.

I do think that fruit and vegetable based diet is superior to paleo diet because you don't have to go into survival mode to be lean and on the other hand you can eat as many carbs from fruit as you can to get energy but without the fear of getting fat. 10 grams of carbs per kg of bodyweight is good.

Are you worried about protein Mitch?

How does the body metabolize fructose (the sugar in fruits)? When there is excess fructose in the human body what generally happens to it?

I wouldn't be too worried about that as there are many people who haven't experienced any cons after 10-30 years of eating tons of fruit.

Is brown sugar good for you? I don't really know if it's something that occurs naturally, but white sugar aka white death is bad.

Come on they have almost the same nutritional makeup and sure white sugar has higher GI but in moderate quantities a somewhat quicker glucose release isn't going to be a big deal.

Anything that has been processed really can't be good because when you remove the fiber, you will get high blood sugar level.

Once again complete junk making blanket statements like that. Processed doesn't necessarily mean bad and can have some large benefits for example the processing that goes into white rice removes the antinutrient phytic acid. Of course you have the trade off with higher GI/no fiber there's pros and cons to each.

xD

But can you or Mitch or anyone who prefer paleo explain why anyone should restrict their calories or otherwise get fat? Isn't it beneficial to eat much energy compared to not having energy? If I'd have the option to choose from 2000kcal of paleo foods per day and have beer belly vs 3000kcal from mostly fruit and have body fat % of 3-10... I would choose the fruit.

What are you talking about? Who said anything about low carb needing calorie restriction? Show me evidence that you can eat 3000-4000cal/day of fruit and not get fat (without expending anywhere near that much energy, which seems to be what you're implying). Youtube links and people saying they've done it don't count.

I mean do you actually understand how to debate these things? Have you read the thread before you came in here? People don't just throw out completely unsupported statements, which all of yours have been, they have something solid to back it up.

And another thing that people should remember is that don't take advice from people who sell powders/pills because it's a con. I find it interesting that many if not all of these paleo guys sell these things even though you should get enough protein from animal products no? It's just odd.

In short, health isn't in a pill or a powder, if a diet requires such things then it's not really a healthy diet. Many paleo people also require things like coffee to give them energy and it's also odd to me.

In that case I can't really give you evidence, but from what I've seen, eating 3000+ kcal from fruits and little amount of exercise is enough to make you look very very skinny. It happens to be so that when most of your energy comes from simple carbs, you don't really need to exercise much to be skinny.

In case you are interested though, this is just one of the many examples:
