Off topic slightly but why don't NFL jerseys have sponsors on?

the smaller base sports do, but it is probably because no one wants to be first. Whoever put there name on the New York Football Giant's jersey would make a lot of people mad. The NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL have been able to stay strong enough to not get to that point and I like it that way for now.

yes, but just like golf purists are insane about the rules, baseball purists will be insane, football purists dont want it, some probably dislike the name being on the back the jersey

and if your the NFL, you are the biggest sport in the USA, but dont have international following too much except for maybe the UK, what companies will pay enough to make this happen? NFL wouldnt do it unless it was well worth the money to break tradition. And only a USA market lowers the value.

From a rough comparrison of the EPL I'd imagine you could get on average atleast $20mil a season per jersey which is about $600 million a season. I don't know how that compares with the league wide revenue but it seems like a lot of money to be giving up to satisfy a few purists.

Current league wide revenue is said to be at 9.2 billion as of last year. Advertising would have to be small on the jersey as well as the numbers must be big so referee's and announcer's alike can make calls and identifications from distances.

Because the jersey maker pays a boatload to the NFL.

Chuck said something will be up soon so I'm assuming he has talked to someone about it. If Chuck or Josh didnt want to deal with commissioner duties, but just be in charge of money, I would happily be commissioner. have done it a ton of times before.
