Requirements are....
Running PS, HEM, TN and iTunes while playing 12 to 16 tables of FR.
Emailing and printing out documents for work.
Downloading and watching DC videos.
Currently use a Acer with 2gig ram and 2.5Ghz which starts to lag around 16 to 18 tables running. This is only while i'm table selecting so is ok. I need to replace this machine with a new one.
Anything new up to £300 ( CPU only) is fine.
Thanks guys, appreciating the guidance.
Stan
What about slapping another stick of RAM in that computer? The one you are thinking of buying now isn't really an upgrade to be honest (assuming the Asus is a dual core, which is highly likely).
I also think you aren't quite aware what a CPU is. The CPU is only one of several parts that make up your computer. Maybe you wanted to say that you only needed the computer, not the screen etc.?

Acer is not very reputable. 2.5 ghz is too little unless you have 2 cores like the e3300 or a core2duo. I believe the ram is not an issue, but these days it's good to have 4. It's a cheap upgrade you can do later if you need to. (50 usd, probably similar in euro). Check your performance by opening the task manager. If it's running under 1.4 gigs of ram you're probably fine.

Try and run a disk defrag on your C drive, go to Start- Progs-Accessories-System Tools-Disk Defrag, select C-drive and leave it to work, will take a while if you haven't done it recently. Also i would download C-cleaner from here... http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download its completely freeware prog so no need to register ect. I would run the registry cleaner a few times to clean your registry out, these steps should help your PC go a bit quicker :~) If its still slow you can try a reinstall of windows like maglame said, although i would only do this if i noticed that it had slowed up significantly since buying it...

Rather than look at PB, go take a look at Dells. Not the quality of 5 years ago, but still above average, and good support system.

Yeh agree if you looking for a good quality prebuilt DELL is best, and offers a decent warranty 3years compard to others of 1 year.
However building a custom to me is always best..

A decent PC (Tower only) is the DELL INSPIRON DT580 I3. In SA its cost around R6999 but obviously gonna be cheaper over seas.. It might be a little over 300 but gonna last alot longer and performance is better. Also has 3 year warranty.

or, the last but probably best alternative if you already have a CD of windows to hand and you dont need monitor, keyboard, mouse etc. then this is by far the best PC you could get for under £300..

Intel Core i3 2100 3.1GHz
3MB Cache
6GB DDR3 RAM
Expandable to 16GB
1TB SATA II HD
for starters this mother board is about 3x as expensive when bought separately from the one you posted OP and has 3x the cache. Secondly, the 6GB ram can handle pretty much anything! and last of all you have huge 1TB of space, never delete anything again
If you have a Windows install CD already, aswell as the other stuff like monitors, mouse, keyboard then its an awesome deal. Good luck!
