*sigh*
This forum is slowly becoming a ghost town. Since those of us in the USA can't do much as far as posting hands/making videos ATM, why don't some of the players outside the US post some strategy questions/videos? I am seriously chomping at the bit to review a video ATM. Also, is anyone running play money homegames on Stars? I'd like to keep some of the rust off of my game while I'm sitting here on the sidelines...

Hey DrGrip, when I'm through the current crunch time at work, I'll start studying poker again and will try posting some hands but 'cos I have decided to put more effort into improving my professional real-life skills, I just won't have as much time to devote to this fine game.
Thing is, and this is a completely unsubstantiated observation, I think the limit games took more of a beating than no-limit when the axe came down on Black Friday. So I may just bite the bullet and start learning NL.
Pigs may fly too, I've heard it's a possibility with the right genetic engineering.

I'll start playing again soon. A lot going on in my life atm with the move across the ocean. But you'll see me at the tables soon, har har!

I got a job so I'm not playing a ton anymore. Its good to take a break from poker but it takes some effort getting back into a normal life. Going to play tonight again, see how the games are.

Not sure if any of you watch Live at the Bike, but tonight is 40/80 LHE and I'll be in the booth with Bart Hanson for a bit.

I'll admit that I have already started to cross over to the dark side and am learning some NL. *hangs head in shame*
There were a few reasons for my decision:
1. since Black Friday it just feels like the variance has gotten way bigger in the LHE games on Stars
2. if Stars and FTP were suddenly blocked here in the UK, I'd be screwed because there are no live LHE or limit O8 games in this country (or in Europe at all really). I figured I should work on my NL game so I can play live here
3. I also just enjoy playing live poker so would like to get better at it

Hey dash!
How is the transition going? I think I might need to grind some NL if I wanna do some bonuswhoring at low stakes room, but I don't know if a 3/6 LHE grinder could hold her own at 25 or 50NL. What do you think?

Would definitely recommend you watch 'Baby Steps' and 'From the Ground Up'. After that you should easily be able to hold your own at 50NL, based on what I've seen so far.
Personally, I've found the transition fairly painless so far. At the low stakes, NL players play so straight forwardly. My LHE background has definitely helped with hand reading and identifying good spots to value bet marginal hands. Bet-sizing has been the biggest thing for me to get used to.

Lol. I suspect there is a correlation between how tight we play at LHE and how easy it is to make the transition to NL.
As I recall, you were quite tight at 6-max LHE and more comfortable at full ring right dash? I'm towards the other end of the spectrum i.e. I've struggled to restrain LAGgish tendencies at LHE and avoid Full Ring unless I'm willing to be very very disciplined in that session.
The tighter style required in NL (at least for a beginning player?) is difficult for me. ![]()

PLO is very easy. you always flop a piece so you can always call down.
