i think the safe thing to do is transfer money to none USA friends of yours you trust and see if they can withdraw and mail a check to you

Don't think that will work. You can't withdraw funds that you haven't played with, and I imagine that if this was a legitimate way to get money off Full Tilt and Stars won't be able to handle the backlog.

Isn't apeshit kind of what they are doing right now?

Right now everyone is scared because no one knows what the fuck is happening, and with good reason. i think the best play for all US players right now is to leave their money where it is on FTP and Stars, as cashing out seems pointless at best, and extremely risky at worse. This whole thing is like 3 hours old - it will take time for things the situation to become clear.

In the meantime, Stars at least are definitely going to be severely punished if the DoJ has proof of what they mentioned above. Their actions in relation to the banks and payment processors are clearly illegal to anyone who's even just watched an episode of Law and Order.

From what I gathered, non-US players cannot cash out either right now and personally I doubt I will ever see my money again given how serious of a problem this is for the pokersites

it's not illegal to gamble online. the law is targeted against the site operators, not the players. it's not illegal to make a deposit. it is illegal to accept a deposit from a US citizen for gambling purposes, however.

these same type of legal confusions abound in the law books. for example, it's not illegal to be high off marijuana. but it is illegal to be in possession of marijuana.

Deposit money on a pokersite, if I understand everything correctly.

Sites no doubt pay out from their assets, which have been seized. My guess is there won't be anything left to pay out players by the time the government is done reaping the money.

Title VIII of the Act is also known as the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 (or UIGEA). This title (found at 31 U.S.C. §§ 5361–5367) "prohibits gambling businesses from knowingly accepting payments in connection with the participation of another person in a bet or wager that involves the use of the Internet and that is unlawful under any federal or state law."

Like I said... What did I do that was illegal?

Thought to Ponder:
Does this mean Phil Ivey and company just lost a big % of their net-worth?

That's the only thing I'm worried about, hopefully they can arrange a plea deal or something to only seize profits and pay players back their money if it comes to that.
