The Leap: Episode One by DeathDonkey, BigBadBabar

DeathDonkey and BigBadBabar start off the series with a meeting of the minds over the current state of mid/high stakes LHE and what it takes to be successful in today's games. They use video of a recent four tabling session from BBB as a springboard for the discussion.

I just want to say that this video was super helpful to me and answered so many questions I have had about daily grinding and trying to move up in stakes. I do not really play LHE, but instead other limit games like Stud mostly. I am trying to transfer some of your table selection concepts over to them.

Take an example of someone playing up to 5/10. If there are 4 tables running: full 3/6, short 3/6, full 5/10, short 5/10, you are suggesting that I should probably start with the short 3/6 and short 5/10 if I am 2 tabling and then go from there? This is kind of counterintuitive to my previous thinking(which wasn't based off of much thought), but would probably be good for me anyways since I seem to do better 3-5 handed than I do 8 handed.

Great vid guys, can't wait to see the rest of the series. I feel this is right up DDs valley.

Also DD I think it'd be cool if you could perhaps do a standalone EP for one of the smaller games like TD or mix and how lobby skills, stake selection (and adjustments) etc work as I would think there'd definitely be some similarities to LHE but also some differences which are a big deal.

I don't think you're outgrowing your note phase as opposed to there aren't that many noteworthy things to note that you can exploit at 10/20 as there are at 5/T.

Like at lower stakes I take TONS of notes on somebody's donking range. I finally have it nailed down and can act perfectly against it. But at 10/20, well, that note is mostly empty or comes up so rarely that it isn't significant.
No cc, ol, ovl, lrr, occ3, buyin 5BB, post+check, etc. notes will also make it seem like you're not taking as many notes, when in reality the # of postflop notes is just the same (and in reality more important).
idk, I don't find it that cumbersome to take notes anyways, so it isn't bogging me down anyways. So might as well take some notes, relic from playing lots of without a HUD maybe.

I really enjoyed the video, guys. I know a bunch of people in the same boat, and it will be interesting to see BBB's progress across the 10/20 divide.

It is sad to think that I've played as many hands as I have with so many of the regs in the companion vid. Many of us need to get a life.

Great stuff guys, can't wait for next week.

I just wanted to say that I have taken an approach of game selection/lobby usage similar to that discussed in this vid looking for shorthanded games first the last few days and really like it. It has been both more profitable and enjoyable to me as I prefer shorthanded play. Almost feels like a scavenger hunt constantly looking for better tables and spots. Why the hell haven't I been doing this all along?

fwiw the only expectation I have is that if the fish wants hu at those higher stakes that the 3rd player sits out/doesn't join in. I also think it's good if players--and I try to do this--sit in in such a way that there is a hand played between the two before they post. Although generally I try to ask the guy if he would like to play hu before anyone sits.

Is there a reason this one is not available in iPod friendly format?

Usually only one table, replayer style, or power point vids are done ipod friendly. The tables would be too small to see on an ipod with four of them.

There are some websites that can convert one file type into another so you can kind of do it yourself if needed. I use this one: http://www.freefileconvert.com/

I am sure there are others out there as well.
