I've played the game quite often yet I don't know what it means to trash a card? What happens with a trashed card? Isn't it the same as discarding?
I mean there's a pile and a discard pile, I would assume the card gets completely removed from the game, but im not sure about that... maybe someone could enlighten me.

Yup, once you trash a card it is totally out of the game for the duration.
