Hey everyone! My last thread was a lot of fun and received quite a few responses, so I wanted to create a new contest to give some more people coaching opportunities.
Here's the topic: When will PygmyHero's post count pass DeathDonkey's?
As of today, October 28, 2009, the count is as follows:
PygmyHero: 3,122 posts
DeathDonkey: 3,584 posts
The rules will be slightly different than last time:
Please submit your entries as whatever day you think my post count will pass DD's. The answer will be whatever day it occurs for the first time (for this contest it does not matter if DD surpasses me later in the day / in the future). Your entry MUST be at least THREE days away from anyone else's. I have a reason for this that I will explain in a moment.
For example, if someone has already chosen November 21st, November 24th and November 18th are still valid answers for other people, but the 19th, 20th, 22nd, and 23rd are NOT.
When I pass DD's post count I will search for a winner by reviewing responses in the thread starting from the top. If your response is within ONE day of that day's date, you win!
For example if this happens on the 27th I can stop looking the moment I see someone posted the 26th, 27th, or 28th.
In other words, if someone has already chosen the 4th and you choose the 5th after that you LOSE even if I actually do it on the 5th. In other words, you are not formally disqualified, you just answered poorly and gave yourself no chance to win. It is up to you to ensure that this guideline is met.
I am creating this rule so it is less time consuming for me to find the winner, but also because it adds a new strategy element to the contest. As I continue to NOT pass DD days that are still in the future become more valuable choices and you will generally be able to make more accurate picks. HOWEVER, that must be weighed again the fact that other people will make choices and that you can't wait too long otherwise other people will snatch up all the 'good' days.
One entry per person, and everyone is eligible to enter. There will be NO tiebreakers (feel free to write a haiku if you want but it will NOT help you). Entries will be accepted until the end of the year. If no one gets the exact day (or within one day) I will take whoever was closest.
Oh, and 1 hour to the winner of course.
