Do you mean by this being fortunate for the opportunities that have been afforded you in life by living in a developed nation?
In part. There is so much focus on consumerism and having unnecessary stuff in the U.S. Unless you are naturally resistant, it reduces quality of life imo. Being around a bunch of people who live more simply makes me happier.

Yep, that's why I love where I live, Santa Cruz CA.

Buffalo has some nice things about it like good restaurants, low cost of living and lots of sports events; but having been born there and having lived there for many years all I can really think of is the snow, snow, snow.

There's a girl who lives in Berlin that would strongly disagree...
I visited Vienna last year, it's a cool city for sure. Come visit me in Berlin and we'll discuss it further
Loads of people have told me at University that Berlin is wonderful.

for those in the US looking to move for poker but want to stay somewhat near, I *highly* recommend Revelstoke/Vancover BC
Go during spring/summer, it is 10x cheaper (especially in revelstoke), setting up shop is as easy to do there as it is in the US. There isn't a language barrier except for the occasional dick that prefers french to english (not so common in that side of canada though). Women are incredibly hot, nice nightlife in Vancouver (revelstoke more slow/quiet but lots of ecotourist stuff). You don't need to apply for any visa/citizenship as long as you make occasional trips back to the US and US Passport + rent contract is really all that is required for setting up a bank account (have to do this in person though). You can find really nice places on craigslist, airbnb, and homeaway.
Planning on going back next spring.
