Couple of notes

1. I am currently too busy to have the weekend meetings...for those of you who don't know I am moving back home and its a big move and I have a lot of stuff I need to buy and sell and need to do before I go...I will try to talk to you all on skype whenever possible but until I can get back home and settle in meetings will be off.

2. To those who took part in the 50k challenge please post your results on here so I can forward the results to Steve and he can pick the winners and we can go from there. I would like to get this wrapped up as soon as possible.Thank you

3. I know that after a strong start to I Stacks More things have more or less been in the muck for much of last month. I think this happened for a couple of reasons. This was my first attempt at running such a group and I have learned a lot from my mistakes. My plan is to continue with the group but revamp some of the structure e.g. smaller group more specific focus etc. but this wont be until about probably the end of jan start of feb.

4. As a christmas gift to each other lets talk some poker Smile everyone (if u feel like it) should make a post on here related to their poker journey and what they feel they have learned over the last couple of months and where they are headed. It could be something as simple as I didn't know how much variance affected the game until I saw it happen to me or something like I realized that (and this is true for me) I don't tilt at all almost when I get coolered but I tilt pretty bad when I make bad plays and know I am playing bad so basically I am hard on myself when I play bad and when I play bad, the hand I played bad keeps running through my head and causes me to play future hands worse taking my off my A game and putting me on tilt.

Thats All Folks!!

Wow, I expected 50k hands to be rough, but I didn't realize how difficult it would be for me. I started the challenge off doing pretty well, playing every night, on track to making the goal... I'd completed 1200 hands after the first week, a lil behid track, but I didn't get to play that weekend (the time I expected to get in the bulk of my play). The second week (w/o weekend play again) I was up to 5k hands and started doubting I would get close. I'd missed 2 weekends and was behind my goal by over 6.5k hands. Nothing I couldn't make up in a couple weekends and a few more hours during the week. That's when the killer to my "I Stacks More" challenge happened and I didn't see it coming. At the beginning of week Three, my computer died and it would be a few weeks before I had the chance to go and pick up another comp, or get mine fixed.

It wet downhill from there.. in the two weeks I'd played, although a small sample I'd just stepped up from my 10NL game to 25NL (and done decently well).

I was crushed, the challenge was over half done, and I'd put in a little over 5k hands. From there, I went back to my old ways and played when I could and when I felt 100% with zero distractions, which equals no real play time. I ended playing about 5k more hands in the next few weeks at 25NL. My challenge ended at the following:
10645 hands (5838 10NL, 4807 25NL)
9.14 bb/100

I've learned that putting volume in is my downfall, I have many excuses, as many of us do. I think scheduling my play time better would be beneficial instead of playing only when I feel 100% and all other distractions are out of the way. If I schedule, then I know no matter what x time is poker time. Gonna play with that idea starting this week.

My other downfall in my opinion is not talking on skype with all of you. Making every meeting probably won't change, but catching someone on skype has to be alot simpler. Sweat sessions and hand discussions is my goal.

Well gonna cut this, get with you all later.

Poker Journey:
Since joining this group 3 months ago, I've gone from 10nl to 50nl. I took my first (properly rolled) shot at 100nl last night.

What I've learned:
1) People don't bluff at 10nl and 25nl nearly as much as you think they are. I know this is somebody's theorem, can't remember whos. When they raise the turn, they think they're ahead.

2) Your opponent is not you. He won't bet pot for the same reason. He won't realize slowplaying trips on that wet board in a 4way pot is boarderline "special needs." He will however make that mistake over and over again.
Instead of including what you would do in your thought process, start by categorizing your opponent in a very general sense and adjust your standard play based on the tendancies exuded by other players like him. As you play more hands together, you can start to worry more about specific reads and adjustments.

3) The difference in aggression by both regs and fish between 25nl and 50nl is astounding (at least on Cereus). I saw a ton of things in 10k hands at 50nl that I didnt' see at 10 or 25nl over 130k hands. Take it slow. Don't get discouraged if you have to move back down and rebuild at 25nl a few times. Most everyone does!

4) If you want to play a LAG style, get better at playing the turn and river. I suck, you suck, we all suck. Denial is a *itch.

5) To my fellow LAGtards, check out mdm13's 4table 100nl video. I got a lot out of it but nobody ever seems to recommend anything other than TubaSteve's series.

6) Turning points in my game: Exploring flop textures. When do I bet 2nd pair for value and when do I check behind? Learning which turns are better or worse for firing a 2nd bullet. FOLDING! ...and 6-bet shoving A4s 280bbs deep preflop.

I joined the 50K challenge in the 2nl 5nl bracket. I started this challenge fairly new to the whole poker world, but I thought what a better way to start than attempting something like this.

On PS I ran 21,571 hands @-6.77bb/100.
I ran into some extreme monkey tard tilt there.
Switched to fulltilt

On FT I ran 7,914 hands @ +11.95bb/100

Keep in mind prior to this challenge I only had 45k hands of experience. Also during it I attempted 2500 hands of 10NL which I think I leveled myself there thinking everyone was trying to make moves that just were not there.

Anyway I didn't make the cut in Hands needed so best of luck to anyone who did. I would also love to attempt this challenge again sometime soon. It was a learning experience to say the least.

50K Challenge results:
50,029 hands 4.18bb/100
40025 at 10nl 4.91bb/100
10004 at 25nl 1.26bb/100

I did not do as well as I had hoped but now I know I can win and can take some time to do much more learning than playing. Over all I was very happy I took part in the challenge but it did lead to putting in hands when I was sure I would have been better off going over hands/studying.

Any way here are the results. Thanks for all your hard work Hash.
