Hey guys,

So my next series for DC is entitled: Real Life: SSNL/MSNL HU NL Grinder. It premiers on Sept. 9th, so whoever I choose and I will have to get going on this here pretty quickly. The series will be 8 videos, approximately an hour each. The series will essentially work in a manner similar to my 10 hour coaching package. Depending on how the student learns we will do some combination of general gameplan/theory/specific topic discussion, HH reviews, video reviews, and live sweat sessions. For the sake of variety, we will do at least a little bit of each of these over the course of the season.

For some additional information on how my coaching program generally works, check out my coaching page: http://www.deucescracked.com/coaches/Gman

Requirements:

*Your main HU game has to be 1/2 or 2/4NL. Yes it is okay if you are primarily a MSNL/HSNL 6-max player and are fairly new to HU and as such are playing the aforementioned limits.

*You must be comfortable/good on video. By this I mean you must have reasonable social skills, speak perfect English, and not be intimidated by the fact that a lot of people will be watching your progress and listening to your thought process develop over time.

*You must be reasonably skilled w/ Camtasia. Because you will actually be doing a lot of the video recording (video reviews/sweat sessions), I need this to not be an issue. You also obviously need a headset, skype, teamviewer, and a very reliable internet connection.

*If you have been coached by me before, you cannot participate (even though I love you guys). Furthermore, if you have had extensive HU coaching already, you also cannot participate. If you had only a couple 1-1 sessions, that's fine

*You must be able start immediately. Although all of our sessions will be set up ahead of time, you also need to have a reasonably flexible schedule. On the same note, you need to not be that guy who is irresponsible or likely to cancel an appointment.

I realize I may have sounded a bit harsh in the requirements. But you are getting >$3500 worth of free coaching, so I figure I may as well be selective about it.

What you need to do:

Write me one paragraph telling me about your poker game. It can include a bit of background, but mostly just tell me about your HU game as it stands today. Feel free to discuss # of hands played, levels, winrates, past areas of weakness and/or strength, and anything else you think might help me to get a better feel for where your game is currently at. But do your best to be concise.

Write me another paragraph telling me why I should pick you. Your response should discuss what about you/your game will make for a more informative/enjoyable viewing experience for DC members.

Also include s/n's for any site you have a good amount of volume on that can be tracked by TR. Don't worry, I don't care about your winrate, I only want to see that you play the correct limits.

Please post your responses in this thread or in one of the other 2 forums this is posted in. Applications can be submitted until I feel like I have found my guy, so the earlier you post, the better.

Thanks in advance to everyone who takes the time to post an application.

-Gman

I know you were very specific with the requirements so sorry to ask, but what if one had only experience at 100nl HU besides starting games at 200nl 6max, but was willing to begin play at 200nl HU for the series?

Thanks

If you feel like you come very close to meeting the requirements, by all means post the 2 paragraphs.

hey gman,

so this is the 3rd time im singin up made a pretty big post on 2p2 dont know if you read it so i will try again Smile.

I am FMyLife on stars and i play 200-400nlhu. I am playin poker for about a year now and switched to HU ~4months ago. I have played 50nlhu 26bb/100 and 100nlhu with a winrate of 19bb/100. I have played 33k hands on 200nlhu so far with succes (if you want check out my tableratings although itsnt very accurate). ATM im combining 200 and 400 nl hu. Havent got a real sample yet on 400nlhu its hard to make a big volume.

I think i will perfectly fit for this because of my story above and i havent been coached before. And i have watched the prinnyraiding series and the serie of dogishead. And im obv very motivated and have alot of time

I feel like im pretty good ingame but im not very good in reviewing hands and the math side of poker (pott odds etc). I also have hard time playing versus LAGs who 3bets alot and playing versus very passive oppenents.

If you have any further questions feel free to ask me.

Thanks in advance

I have been playing poker recreationally for a couple of years now. Around this time last year I decided to get pretty serious about it and joined DC and have been an active member of this community ever since. During this time I have moved from 25nl to 200nl, primarily 6max with HU mixed in. To be 100% honest heads up is not my main game at the moment and my experience with it is mainly 100nl, although I enjoy the game more than 6max I am not as strong there yet. The only experience I have at 200nl is starting games with other regs. However I am well rolled for 200nl and recognise what a great opportunity this is I am more than willing to step up to 200nl for the series.

My strengths as a player are dedication to learning, I am someone who becomes interested in something and spends most of the time thinking about it. My weakness is perhaps often slipping into a slightly passive B-game when things aren’t going well though I have improved on this in the past few months greatly allowing me to move up to 200nl.

I think I would be good for this series because I am probably slap bang in the middle of the DeucesCracked demographic as a decent small stakes player. I have just graduated Leeds University with a degree in History, my oral presentations skills are very good and I consider myself to be very articulate. I am in part-employment at this point in time with a lot of time to dedicate to getting better. I am very flexible with my time. I play on OnGame primarily and iPoker which I don’t believe is tracked by table ratings.

Thanks for reading.

Hello Gman,

Pokermatch.com profile:
* 34 years old, lifetime student and former health care worker (mental disorders)

* Poker history: Live games with friends and family at early age, online debut in 2004 primarily as a MTT/SnGo player. Playing professionally since late 2006 mainly at NL200SH level. Started playing NLHU less than half a year ago at various levels NL200 NL150 NL100, winrate: 5-10bb/100

* + Aggressive play style, comfortable bluffing three streets ai if needed, conservative bankrollmanagement and tilt-control

* - Playing vs aggressive check raisers (not maniacs) and tight passive players. Not putting in enough hours when it is not needed for a decent income.

* Tableratings: I have been playing at sites not supported by tableratings or there were no stats to be found, but I will be happy to provide you with screenshots, handhistories etc. Unfortunately my database was wiped some time ago so I only have about 80k hands which is a rather small samplesize

* Why on earth pick me?
First of all I think it would be nice to see some more content from some of the larger european sites (european citizen). I have been thinking of putting in some more hours and getting a coach for a long time and I feel I am ready to take the plunge. I have an outgoing personality and I use Skype on a daily basis which is why I feel free to offer a non-mute video guarantee.

Best Regards,
J"Boy"

Hey GMan,

-Brief Bio about me

I started playing properly (logging hands, reviewing etc) 14months ago and worked up from 10nl 6m to 50nl 6m - Although I enjoyed 6m, i'd always wanted to try HU, so when i'd built enough of a BR I cashed out to pay for a few sessions with a good HU player. I started @ 50nlHU and worked my way up, to play .5/1 and 1/2 HU as my main game at present. I primarily bum hunt, although i'm interested in learning playing regs too, as I feel it'll improve me as a player and give me scope to get more action and play higher limits in the future - so i've been opening up my game selection now and again (typically at lower limits). For areas of weakness, I struggle most against aggrotards, who 3b a higher %age and fire alot - I also need to work on the maths element of my game. For strenghts - I think I continue to get better at mind management and am continually trying to evolve my game for the better: Thinking about new lines, places to turn hands into bluffs/overbet etc.

-Why Me?

I think you should pick me as I represent a great deal of DC players - in that I believe I have solid enough fundamentals to beat the game, but still have some leaks to cure/game to improve on the way to crushing higher MSNL and onwards : ) I think with my game as it is, discussion would likely be a nice balance of some fundamentals, along with higher level thought/input from yourself.

I realise this may hurt my app, but I've gotta be totally upfront - I do work fulltime, in the UK at the moment, but would make myself available at any other times outside of work for you. If I agree to meet online at a specific time, i'll be there.

I play solely on Tilt atm, username GiggidyFT.

Thanks for looking

Hey I posted my application on 2+2 and then the general discussion thread but everyone seems to be replying in this thread and I'm paranoid about mine not being seen so I hope its ok if I copy and paste it. -

Hey I'm OMGgarycaldwell on 2+2 and full tilt and posted an application on 2+2 before the thread got deleted.

I feel I'm a great candidate for this opportunity. Basically I started playing 50nl HU in January 09 on various sites on and off. Since May I have taken it more seriously as my summer job and have pretty quickly moved up to playing 200nl where I want to become one of the bigger winners over a decent sample before moving to 400nl. I have beaten 50nl and 100nl over about 100k hands for +10ptbbs and am now sitting at 200nl whenever I want a session. I feel my strengths are gameflow, hand reading, value betting thinly and anticipating opponents adjustments. My weaknesses include knowing when to double/triple barrel, getting run over, running other people over (im not comfortable 3 betting super wide) and playing deep.

I think I would make a pretty interesting series for a variety of reasons.
I yesterday posted my first video on 2+2 (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/58/heads-up-nl/my-first-100nl-heads-up-video-569392/) and while I think there is a lot of room for improvement in production/commentary I think I've got a good basis for making really good poker video content. This video is probably the best way for you to see if I'm what you're looking for. I am pretty aware of what I do well and what I don't do well and can explain these articulately on video. I have never had a coach or anyone to really talk poker with. I also tick every box you state above - I genuinely think I'm a great candidate for this, feel free to ask me any questions you have. I look forward to hearing your reply!

Hey Gman,

couple of words about me. I am 23 year old, I live in Europe, but I used to live in the US for 2 years. I've been playing poker for about 3 years. I changed from 6max to HU last December, I was playing alot of NL100 hands, but recently moved up to Nl200. This is my 2nd attempt to play on 200, because when i moved up in april, i had a huge bad run. I meet the the technical requirements, since I am a coach myself on a mostly European coaching site, pokerstrategy.com since last June, therefor I can speak confident in front of large groups, and I am pretty good with camtasia too.
Im flexible on the coaching times, im not doing anything now besides poker.
Few words about my game. I am playing fairly aggressive pre and post flop, I have problem sometime playing against huge stations, because i cant help myself to try to barrel them off of 3rd pair, sometimes i get frustrated from aggressive check raisers and 3bettors, but usually i try to adjust my game properly.

My nick on ftp is Iselyn89.

Thanks for reading

Cheers for the congrats guys I'm really excited about this. I'll do my best to make it as informative and entertaining as possible. Maybe if Garret thinks its a good idea in a later episode we could advertise on the forum for someone who wants to 2 table me at 200nl for 30mins and have an episode where we know the opponents holecards. I'll do my best to answer any questions beneath the videos and hopefully pass on some of Gman's wisdom.
