Id love to join this group if possible. I currently play 20NL on cake.I am keen to learn and study the game, and according to WiltOnTilt group leaning is the way forward.

Wasn't this group about the book that is about to be released? If you don't make it clear from the title and switch it to something that seems totally unrelated to it, I think you will end up to create confusion about this thread and the related discussions.

Yes, I agree. Either SSNLHE should be in the name, or the title of the thread.

I actually think a clever name with attract more people to check out the thread. What about something like "Fishes' Chips: SSNLHE study group"

You know, I didn't consider something like that. The format of "Something catchy here: Small Stakes No-Limit Hold'em Study Group" would be both catchy and practical. Like you and dj_mercury said, I think having the book name in the thread title is crucial.

Apparently, I unknowingly PM'd the wrong person about the thread title, so a title change is not currently in the works. Since the alternate name suggestions were not my idea, I'd really like it if someone else would be willing to organize the vote for the name. Once one is decided on, I'll take another shot at getting the thread re-titled.

Also, it is totally not necessary to have my name in the thread title.

Just to make sure of something , when you say itl be best to participate in the other study group you mean the one on the site you linked fish ? not some group that may be on another site

Yes. Sunny posted that once the book has been out for a bit and people have time to read it, they would work out dates for a study group. My tentative plans are to link those threads here and provide schedule updates as they are available. We can also have discussion in our own thread here on DC as we feel appropriate.

It's up to you where you discuss what. I'm sure you'll get feedback and participation in either forum. Some people will probably only want to use the DC forums, and that's just fine too.

I recommend avoiding 2p2 discussion groups about the ebook, because those threads will probably end up locked or deleted.

Id love to join this group if possible. I currently play 20NL on cake.I am keen to learn and study the game, and according to WiltOnTilt group leaning is the way forward.

Welcome! I'd play on cake too, but I lean on my HUD like a crutch.

Here are a list of all the name ideas so far. Keep posting them and on friday I will tabulate all of them and we can each vote for one. We take the top three and then vote for the name from there. If the name doesn't have SSNLHE in the name, we will add it to the end blahblahblah:SSNLHE study group. Sound good?

Ha for anyone who couldn't sleep last night like a kid on christmas eve or a kid sleeping in the same room as michael Jackson then you'll be happy to know that about an hour ago I got the email and it's downloaded fine.

I was gonna quote to give u a taste but then realised the second page goes on about copyright.

Just to clarify , can we quote the book in this forum and how extensively?

Count me in. I've played NLHE on and off for about half a year (25NL mostly), but I didn't have the time to put in many hands. Now when it's summer and my wife and daughter are out of town a lot, I want to devote a lot more time to poker, so the book couldn't come at a better moment for me. So far I am much more impressed than by PNL (PNL certainly was good theory-wise, but the hand examples weren't always applicable to online games, it seemed to me).

Copyright/quote: You can reprise any hand we give and discuss the discussion: we want this to be practical! Just don't post pages of text please.

And I'll be around here.

I think starting on monday should be fine. Im going to tryot read the entire book today to get a superficial understanding of how it is written and flows from one section to the next, and then leave some ideas for what to talk about. Oh, and I'll check out the official forum too.

There is no timeline established yet on the SSNLHE forums, although I haven't had time to check today.

If we want to plow ahead without waiting around for them we certainly can. I've only had the opportunity to glance at the book so far, so I'm not in a position to make suggestions just yet.

Also, there is a basic section near the end of the book titled something like 7 easy steps to winning at NLHE. Any beginners or inexperienced players would probably do well to read that first and then go back and start from the beginning.

EDIT - I'd like a little time to read through the whole book before we tackle it piece by piece.
