How much action would be right with the 9-high or 7-high you think?

I mean, you steal preflop, the only hand you have the nuts with is 8T, 16combos, if the BB had 8x he only looses to 12 combos. But you also steal with A8-68 and maybe 34s so if he had 8x did he overplay it before his river 3bet?

Yeah i think so but not all that much. If i were the villian i think a x/r vs me would be a much better as long as he was taking x/r lines with other hands too.

The trouble is that the donk always looks like a draw of somekind on this flop. I'm capable of slowing down and getting away sometimes and villains usually can't which means i can get max value.

Ott i think the question that villain needs to ask what am i capping there and against a lot of people it's the nuts or a set of nines one this board. Honestly speaking sets and big pairs i'm dead cautious with after the 3B as the 9 is a terrible card. Even though there's a fd on the board i don't think most players i've encountered would be capable of semibluff 3B and vs those guys i'm not semibluffing 4B a flush Poke Tongue.

I'd probably be just calling an 8 here too some of the time and be letting worse hands bet the river so i could raise there. It's interesting actually as i've got a really weird merged raising range on lots of rivers here. Oddly i haven't thought about that much before, it's strange how these weird little stylistic things pop up.

If you're playing i'd advise folding to the cap or calling and 3B semi or pure bluffing/value owning me on a lot of rivers. You have licence to feel queezy when i cap Grin

EDIT: Oh noes i've just told you how to own me lol!

Absolut agree about xr>donk (I only donk in multiway pots, because I know the PFR is likely to pop it and I can sandwich a couple of villains Grin

tbh I think capping the turn with 99 or any other set is spew here. We're still behind and the price we are getting vs a random donk/3bet is not good enough IMO?

About having a FD here, your not 4betting? I'm not even raising his turn Donk without an 8, FD I would call and Raise river when I hit. It might be too weak but the 9 just hit his flop DONK/call range so well... But I could also see merit to just calling the flop with a FD to keep SB in (if he's likely to peel).

I think raising the turn with an 8 is fine though, I mean there's double FD on board, it's the 2nd NUTs if he's bluffing then bad but most likely he either has a good draw or a made hand.

BTW you play on PartyPoker?

If i'm going to war vs someone overaggro these are the sort of boards i'm doing it on. I think in part it has a lot to do how much action i feel i can gain from someone overplaying any number of rivers.

I should have been a bit clearer about the turn play in regards to the raise, most of the time i'll be playing it straight up if it's a flushdraw but i really think there is some merit to just putting in that raise every so offen. If it's someone aggro it is sometimes a weaker flushdraw that gets to the river and then goes "oh shit now what?" and decides to bluff or the arse end of the straight when the board pairs that gets giggy.

XoverX does occassionaly happen and when it does you'll smash their brains in like a pan glactic garlgeblaster Grin I think the set of nines are a lot closer than i first gave credit but urg it's top set and if someone puts me on the other hands i can have here when the board pairs the same thing applies. If someone is nuts enough to be here with a two pair hand otf that fills up wow that would be super!

I'm aggro perhaps generally about 1.5 bets too aggro but at least it's well balanced Poke Tongue

Yeah i started playing back on party a couple of days ago, my roll is split all over the place atm got a great deal of choice with game selection. Having a lot of fun there ducking and diving between fish, bad regs and the odd mega whale.

Frown It seems playing 5 hours of poker per day is aggravating the illness that prevents me from working at my normal job.
It could just be bad timing because I was not fully recovered from my trip to Buffalo when I started this at the beginning of June. I'm gonna take it easy for a couple days and get some new drugs from the doctor and see what happens from there. This is not a cop out on the bet, I still wanna do the bet I'm just keeping you updated on my poker progress.

I might change my schedule from 5 hours/day 5 days/week to something like
8.5 hours/day 3 days/week.. just to give myself more days off.

No problema, hope the new schedule helps some, no point making yourself ill over a bit of fun.

FWIW I've been ill last 2 days so have consequently booked some time off work, I think its begun to stress me a bit so I'm gonna relax for the next couple of days and try to get 15-20 hours or so in over the holiday I'm having which will see me about half way there with half way to go.

Adri, skip the time management and just play when you feel for it. Wound't it be better for you? I mean, I got no clue about how your feeling when playing, but isn't telling your self to play a certain number of hours each day alot like having to check in on the job at a certain time?

Are any of you playing the MSOP Event # 26 on FTP tomorrow?

Anyone who wanna help me with a transfer, I got PS $$ but needs a little on FTP, $50 or something?

I'm getting really tempted to play MSOP 33 $100+9. I've visited the lobby several times today already and hovered over the register button. Undecided

Just a little psych FYI for everyone - Psych studies (I think mostly from the U of Minnesota, leader in psych things, imo) show that the average adult can really pay attention maximally for only 20 minutes. Seeing as how that's not reasonable for any endeavor, studies show that 50 minute sessions with 10 minute breaks or double (100 minute sessions with 20 minute breaks) are most efficient.

@Jess in particular:
I'd strongly recommend doing 3 90 minute sessions spaced apart. Get up, futz around with kitties, poker, eat, take a walk, poker, watch a movie... you get the idea. But, specifically, I'd really discourage bumping up time on fewer days. It's a recipe for disaster, considering that a person is supposed to sleep for 7.5 hours, meaning you'd spend half of your waking hours playing poker that day.
