there is perhaps a little too much emphasis on winrates. I don't say this from any position of authority, but merely as a guy who feels this way after he played around a bit with a variance simulator
Fair enough. So, having played around with variance simulators myself, I'd say "point taken," and make sure that any coach I take on has won over a statistically significant sample of hands. But this does little to change the crux of the argument. Any coach who can claim that he hasn't played enough hands to overcome short term variance has played far too few hands to be teaching anyone anything about poker, IMO.

Just wanted to say I feel for you TubaSteve never watched a NL vid on this site so got no opinion on your game but I liked how you responded. I too was recently called out on 3 different Poker forums and accused of scamming someone who was once a friend. Not gonna get into it any further but I know exactly how you where feeling when you first saw this thread and so on.
As far as the thread topic goes I have recently started getting coached in limit 6 max by Stellarwind who was recommended by someone well respected on this site. I never once asked him anything about showing proof he was a winner, I felt confident just from the referral he was given. I must say I am very happy with the results thus far and understand how some Coaches do not want to reveal there site names. If I was a beginning player then id want to know my Coach was a proven winner with evidence. If your somewhat skilled and understand some advanced concepts then you should be wise enough to know if what the Coach is saying makes since or if he is full of BS.

I want to apologize for making this thread and abandoning it, reason being I've come to the conclusion shortly after creating this thread and reading the first few pages of it that paid coaching simply wasn't for me. I've preferred working with peers at my level to improve my game rather than hiring a coach. In the future my personal opinion on hiring a coach may change.
I just read TubaSteve's full disclosure reply to this thread and that is exactly what I was looking for when I created this thread. Your response was excellent and it answered all the things I was questioning about you. Again I want to reiterate the fact that your videos are great and have helped me improve my game tremendously. Now that you have posted your full disclosure I have not a doubt in my mind that you are a great coach and again I apologize for any offense you may have taken from my OP but it was a major concern of mine that I had to get off my chest and seek some answers.

alright i was going to wait until i had time to formulate a more detailed response, but in the effort of full disclosure i'm doing it now. [...]
cliffsnotes: 2ptbb/100 winner over last 275k hands of 6-max, primarily at 100nl.

OK, germany is playing a test match in 10 minutes and I had promised to be at a friend's place by kickoff. I really have to go now but all the Steve bashing kept me glued to my seat. I just want to say that this was a great post Steve. I consider you to be a GREAT coach for uNL players. I'm sure there are guys out there about whom the accusations made against you in this thread might apply, however I think picking you out as a scapegoat is a "punch below the waistline" (german expression pretty much translated literally, hope you guys know what I mean).
Steve has been, and I hope this will stay this way, an asset to this site.
If you want to bash a coach, pick someone who SUCKS FFS!!!
My screenname is out there. Feel free to PTR me. I'm not a baller but I beat 100NL Stars for a better winrate than most other regs and can confidently say that I DO in fact know my fundamentals. There is rarely someone with whom I agree more than Steve when it comes to strategy discussions, and even when we disagree with each other it usually leads to a healthy discussion between two good players that if followed closely can be quite beneficial for uNL players.
