If you need a video deleted, you can PM us. Right now we keep them indefinitely and will continue to do that for a while (storage is cheap), but we'll probably put in some harder limits in the next few months once it starts seeing a lot more use.

Is it okay to post videos you upload with this service to some other poker forum too?

As long as you're using it here as well, it's ok. If it's just for other sites, it's not.

Sounds like you've got the project all under control, but just in case i thought i would point you guys to http://swfupload.org/, which is an open source flash+javascript widget for doing file uploads with a progress bar etc, so no timeouts and user feedback as to the progress of the upload.

Since we upload directly to Amazon S3 (as opposed to a standard apache-based upload to a webserver directly), I'm not sure if we can use that, but I'll look into it.

Yeah i thought of that, it seems do-able with some work. Here's a bit of reading material to pass on to the devs:

Long term you may want to think about password protected downloads as well. Would be very sweet if you could create virtual study groups where only members of the group have access to the files.
Would help to lock in some customers and could potentially be a premium service (i.e. pay X extra per month to get some area for a study group). You could even concider renting the infrastructure to coaches etc.

I understand developing a good interface for the uploads would be a complicated process. But it would be good, to simply specify an ftp address where we can use our own ftp programs. This would definetly help as we could immediately identify speeds, duration and most importantly lost connections and transfer resumes.

Cheers

hey rob

i am using firefox 3.5.1 and uploaded a video just now.
when clicking the upload button there was a whole lot of pop ups i had to go through, firefox telling me it's not trustworty etc, i had to click on "i understand the risks"

membervideos.deucescracked.com.s3.amazonaws.com uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is only valid for *.s3.amazonaws.com.

(Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain)

so i click on "add exception" but the screen stays like it is.
not even sure if it's currently uploading, as there is no progress bar Smile

Hey George,

How big is the file and how long did you wait? It takes quite a while for most average connections to upload a movie.
