What's up guys--

Today, I'm unveiling part 1 of my new coaching platform.

The class is titled: "Poker Fundamentals and Modern NLHE"

The course will last 8 weeks, and will be open to 8 students. Each session will last 1.5 hours, and will cost $250/session. That's less than $170/hr for coaching from a top 10/20 and 25/50 player.
The total cost is $2,000.

Each week, we will go over a video from one of the students. This means that everyone will have their play specifically reviewed and critiqued. The course will use my proven coaching methodoly, keeping all students engaged in the learning process and working to master the concepts as a team.

Registration is first-come-first-serve. Posting in the thread or PMing me are both viable ways to register.

You guys at DC know my material and know that this will be a top-notch course. Get in on it today and start making money tomorrow.

GL guys,
Andrew

I'm interested,

I've got some questions:

what time / day do you think the sessions are likely to take place?

what if you get people who are interested who play all the way from say NL100 to NL2000, how would you keep things interesting/understandable for everyone?

do you intend to have a 9 way conference call to discuss the videos?

I'm interested, would also like some more info on how the sessions would work.

Will you be available to go over some hands via email or somthing like that between sessions? Is it geared towards any particular level? I play 200nl FR FWIW

What skill level are you expecting the students to have, or what range of stakes should they be playing?

Is your book included with the course, or do students get a discount if they want to purchase the book?

hey guys,

the book will not be included in the course, however many of the concepts in the book will be covered. I'll consider offering a discount to students in the class.

The sessions will probably take place on Sundays, time TBD.

The course is less geared for people playing 2knl+, and more for people involved in uNL, SSNL, and MSNL. Judging by the people who register for the program, I'll adjust the course material to the appropriate context.

The great thing about the course is that the concepts will truly apply to people at all stakes, as they are poker concepts--patterns that run throughout the game, no matter what limit you play. The limit you play will probably only affect how often you exercise the different concepts (i.e. we're going to turn our hand into a bluff very rarely at uNL but somewhat more commonly at msnl).

I'd be interested if this turns into a msnl+ course. I'd like some more details about having 8 people sessions, does that mean that everyone pays 2k and must try to make the scheduled times and if we don't make it too bad, or are we just part of the group and pay for sessions we want to observe or be critiqued.

hey man,

I'd actually be somewhat disappointed if there wasn't any MSNL presence in the course. The theory subjects will be applicable for both SSNL and MSNL. I like to say it like this: SSNL students will learn things they'll need to use to beat MSNL, MSNL students will learn things they should've learned beating SSNL. Honestly, there are SO many MSNL players I've seen who's biggest problems are misunderstanding of important, fundamental concepts--concepts they should've mastered earlier. To say that this course wouldn't be applicable to MSNL games is just way off. In truth, MSNL players will probably get the most out of the course, as they'll actually be able to use the more advanced concepts, whereas SSNL players will learn them and probably store them away until they reach MSNL.

hope that made sense

oh and also, yes there will be a weekly scheduled time. We'll find a way to make scheduling work for all the students, but again, it's the student's responsibility to show up.

Are you planning to held this course periodically (ie every 3 or 6 months)? Will the lessons be recorded so that it's going to be possible go through them again once a session is finished and after the end of the course?

dj_mercury-
depending on the class's popularity and my own schedule, I could see starting a new course only a few weeks after the first one ends. Keep in mind that this is only one part of my new coaching platform-- there's more on the way.

As for recording, I don't see any problem with recording them so long as they're not being distributed. I'll have to check w/ legal about that.

Keep the questions coming
Andrew

Each week, we will go over a video from one of the students. This means that everyone will have their play specifically reviewed and critiqued.

I feel this part of the course - having your own play reviewed and critiqued - is the most important part because it directly tells me "where I'm at" in poker, allowing me to have a game plan for future study/emphasis. After all, this is ME playing in this video, ME making all the mistakes, where as watching someone else's play and someone commenting it is more like watching an episode of Coaching Tree : very good content, yes, but it does not directly relate to me - it's not me on the driving seat.

So my question is what is the 1.5 hr session like? 9 guys at their own pc, SKYPE on, watching a video file they downloaded earlier, Andrew commenting it, after 45-50 minutes all 9 discussing the video, Andrew explaining theory content in the light of the video, or separately? Or something totally different?

Also, for $250/session I think it's important there is somekind of a print left afterwards, a recorded video/audio of the whole session one could refer to later on, and not just some personal notes taken during the session. Andrew, will you be making a video of the session?

I play 100NL and 200NL at FTP - my goal for 2009 is to be a winner at 200NL and my overall goal in poker is to consistently make a few grand a month: either by crushing 100NL, beating 200NL, or doing ok at 400/600NL - whatever the most stress-free limit as long as it will bring me that income. This course is for me?

Thanks for your replies and my PM to you still stands despite these comments/questions.

I'm still interested......

rs
I like the idea of recording the sessions for those who pay for it to view

I'm still a bit skeptical about the idea of the range of levels that may be involved since its a video review format.

I also find it hard to make a decision since 'Keep in mind that this is only one part of my new coaching platform-- there's more on the way'. How can we decide without knowing what these other things are?

I agree with this, although there were more than a few spots in The Coaching Tree where I was impressed by Andrew's ability to have a new take or bring new information to a concept I had thought was fairly simple or straightforward.
