I didn't realize how fatty a lot of products were, like salad dressings.

Sugars, yes. My #1 problem has to be the soda. I've been weening myself off them. I'm 9/73, 9 sodas over the last 73 days.

How do you get by without bread? I have such a hard time getting enough calories in my diet if I limit carbs. End up eating an avacado a day and choking back protein shakes to keep in my range. I'd much rather just have PB + toast!

I'm eating a lot of protein (protein shakes, chicken breasts, ...) and fat (olive oil, peanut butter, ...) and I'm staying quite low on carbs. For the carbs I'm preffering the slow ones (like oatmeal for example).

Didn't take the time to read through the whole thread so sorry if these already came up, but...

Can anyone recommend a place to get the resistance bands/pull up bar for cheap? Also, how effective is this program without strictly following the nutrition guide?

When I was scouting around, Amazon was pretty good. That "Iron Gym" pull-up bar is available at places like Wal-Mart and Target as well, if you have an available doorway. I did not, though, so I had to do some weird thing with eyehooks, ceiling joists and straps.

Without some sort of nutritional plan, I imagine that you'll still get in much better shape, you'll just show it a lot less.

I have tried a few different bands off of amazon and ebay. Mixed luck with them. After 3 weeks, I'm close to maxing them out (even doubling them up) and I am by no means huge, so am going to switch to SelectTechs.

Also, be sure to check your doorframe before buying a pullup bar. I picked one of the highest rated ones on amazon and found that the doorframes on my apt doors were too wide (about 5" or so) to accommodate it, despite the claims that it fit "nearly any frame." If your frames are too big, you have to go with the telescoping style instead of the cantilever style.

Yeah, I'm trying to figure out whether I can get away with 552's for now or need the 1090s. I'm 6'1, 185 and about 20% bodyfat atm (damn you beer for being so delicious!). The heaviest I go now is two black bands for some of the curls, which is supposedly 40lbs or so, but I'm not sure how accurate that is and how quickly I will need to up the weight over the next 60 days.

Yea, the nutrition guide is something I've been following pretty loosely and I know I should be paying more attention to it. My profession makes it kind of difficult to keep a regular meal schedule, but I've definitely made some positive food choices. I didn't realize how fatty a lot of products were, like salad dressings.

lol So wait, you are following a program but take the nutrition guide loosely? You are going to get frustrated by not reaching your goals. Nutrition is almost half of your whole progress, it would be completely half if rest did't need some %

Example: What use does it have to play a very good session of poker (your main game is NLH 6-max), if you end up donking it away on PLO when you finished?

That's what you doing if you don't have your nutrition in order. You are working out (hopefully) hard (most think they train hard but train like pussys) at the gym, and then you give yourself all kinds of stuff that your body can't use. So the next day you train, you are just working off what you ate last days, which will make you look in the mirror and go like 'huh, i train hard right? Why don't i see anything happening? this stupid program isn't working! Fuck it, i am going to quit'

then you quit, and you start become fatter. Which will make you say: See, this is just the way I am

Don't go that way, get your nutrition straighten out. Feel and look strong!

and: Doubt yourself! Don't just say: My nutrition is good, it's fine, i don't have any troubles

Look in the mirror, don't make your belly flat, and see if you are happy what you are seeing. If not: a. Your work out sucks or are not doing it the right way b. Your nutrition sucks c. both

Mine just arrived. Travelling for business atm so going to get into it in 2 weeks. Looks pretty damn daunting to be honest!

One thing the nutrition guide is strangely silent on is booze. Although I could probably do so, I am totally not inclined to cut beer/wine out entirely from my diet. I am thinking I will lean towards having at least 4 booze free days a week, and then otherwise in moderation.

Have you guys cut it entirely from your diets?

If I'm buying resistance bands from amazon or something, what 'weights' do I need? The P90x book only referenced the different colored handles iirc

Go to My DC > Settings. You can choose how you follow each thread (email, RSS, etc.). You should probably change your default settings so it doesn't automatically set it to send you an email for each new reply.
