Study progress update

2012-05-24 09:48 AM

So I’ve been taking this study thing pretty seriously, unsurprisingly I’ve dropped back from the amount I was doing before, I’m probably studying 3 hours a day now average. The original inspiration has worn off and now it’s just good old fashioned motivation driving me. One thing I’m noticing is that I’m doing a ton of hand writeups and I probably should spend some more time practicing my touch ... (continued)

Kick Off

2012-05-12 08:10 PM

Hey I recently started building a roll @ 4nl after a downswing. The goal is to get back up to 50nl/100nl and continue from there. I’m looking for some regulars to discuss hands and strategy with and also work together to track/improve progress. skype : therealprofesorkaos

Study update

2012-04-14 09:57 PM

It’s been one month now since my last post and in the interim I think I’ve averaged maybe 4hours a day on poker study. So that’s gone well. I’ve played a range of stakes with the intention of trying to learn different things at different stakes. Actually spending the time working on the weaker areas of my game intently has been much better than I would have ever imagined. I’m really glad most people are ... (continued)

Study my ass off

2011-07-28 11:05 PM

Been keeping on the study. Just got done reviewing my database of hands. Went over every hand lost over 20bbs and learned a lot about myself. It took me about 4 months of hitting it every night. The great news is that it can all be fixed and will be fixed. Theres really no bad news to it. Just really really good news. Took a break during NBA playoffs and it was kind of hard to get back into it but ... (continued)

Poker Think Time, Studying Revised

2011-04-25 12:15 AM

I wanted to type in this blog since yesterday night, but I always ideas right before I fall asleep. Anyways, it’s been about a week since I’ve played any poker. It feels like a strange vacation where I have way too much free time. Lucky, I secured all my funds and already planned to where I want to play next. During this mini-vacation filled with pokerlessness and upcoming fina ... (continued)

Are books still of value to a poker player?

2011-02-14 12:33 AM

After the comments I received regarding my first post i thought i would put down my thoughts on books and wether they would still be useful today even though we have wonderful video sites and forums like deuces cracked… When you consider those that have been playing for a long time would not have had access to resources such as DC’s video’s as well as the 2p2 & DC forums. ... (continued)

A wonderful day

2011-01-16 07:49 AM

Hello everyone! I’ve been putting in more study time away from the tables lately and it’s been getting me pretty fired up about playing because I feel much more confident in why I’m winning. Went out with some friends last night for some drinking and while grabbing some cash out of my room and I stumbled across a small wad of 100’s that I’d forgotten about post WSOP. So naturally we took this ... (continued)

How to define a poker curriculum

2010-06-29 01:16 PM

It’s interesting how we approach learning. As a coder my skillset is fairly easy to quantify: 1. I understand a concept/discipline at an unconcious level. I am confident in the theory and implementation. I am able to utilize it, leverage it and extend the scope of it. I am also able to provide quality training and guidance to others. 2. I am familiar with a concept/discipline, ... (continued)

Time for a reboot

2010-06-28 11:04 AM

This week marks a transitional period for me. I am leaving my current employer and starting a new job on the other side of town. It’s an interesting time, a time when I re-evaluate my skills and personality and get a chance to re-mold myself a little. Get the bugs out of the system so to speak. I’ve felt a little closeted in my old job, running in a comfortable groove of my own creation and really ... (continued)

The path of a student?

2010-02-11 01:49 AM

I went to meet a gentleman tonight about a website I had built for a local pub poker league I used to play in. The gentleman in question runs a game at a few venues and had some ideas to re-focus the site as a promotional tool more than the dry but functional league standings that it exists to expose at the moment. He had spent some time in powerpoint mocking up a layout to illustrate his visio ... (continued)
