Hi, Contrary to the mock philosophical heading, I doubt this blog is the place for much by way of spectacular enlightenment, poker-related or otherwise. Instead, it’s just somewhere for me to bounce ideas around, post results and interesting/funny hands, and doubtless rant about whatever injustices I feel I’ve been dealt most recently (although I’ll try and keep that last aspect to a minimum). To be honest, I’ve long had rese ... (continued)
Here are my results for March 2011 together with the stats. I’ve included overall 3bet % and my unopened PFR % from each position as I’m concerned I’ve gone back to playing too LAG and want to monitor this in future months. Full post here with stats Â
A few days ago I was playing live cash and I got talking to this intelligent recent graduate about poker. He tells me he plays 10NL Rush and says you can’t get reads and it can’t be beat. I asked him what his stats were and they were all standard but he says its impossible to win due the super high rake. I was just shocked that he though the reason he couldn’t win was because the rake, obv ... (continued)

Two weeks into my new playing style for micros is yielding some good results. My graph is shooting straight up. I would write it off as a heater (a micro heater?) but it lines up exactly with when I change my style. I’m sticking to the gameplan and will easily reach my goal of a consistent +20% ROI for the first quarter of 2011. If I reach this goal, I will move up from the 25c sngs to the $1 sngs. I already have more than en ... (continued)
Played 11 25c sngs today. I cashed in five of them and made three final tables: 12th, 12th, 4th, 2nd, and 2nd. Also played two 10c tournies and busted early in both. +291% ROI for the day. With today’s results, I am now +76.35% ROI over 78 tournies and sngs for January. The biggest win for me today though was the chance to test the changes I decided to make to my game. Specifically: stop being a nit, three bet more often, fix my bet ... (continued)

I’m having pretty consistent results in getting to the money. I was happy with getting 53rd but I need to crank up the aggression a lot more to have any chance of getting to the final table. Here’s an example of what can happen when you let pe ... (continued)
The final graph for 2010 and some commentary… http://blog.obadonke.com/2011/01/02/results-for-2010-the-year-of-the-tilt-monster/ .
I played average, probably my B game. Just ran bad and some coolers. I also tried big bluffs which did not work although my lines made sense to me but villains liked their hands in spite of rivers. Â
You may recall I had coaching from Entity about midway through this month. Well, here’s a snapshot of November’s graph from Nov 15th onwards that I believe shows the impact Entity’s words of wisdom have had on my game. http://blog.obadonke.com/2010/11/30/the-entity-effect/
