competition, and poker
by KRANTZ on Apr 24th, 2010

I’m reading Scott Belsky’s Making Ideas Happen. There’s a section in there where he says: Ideas often have the tendency to lie stagnant until we are jolted into action by either excitement or fear… For this reason, competition — regardless of whether it stems fr... Read More

Lucky Chances Trip Report 2
by DJ Sensei on Jan 8th, 2008

Being as it was Wednesday and all, it was time to roll down to the casino and stack some fools. So I hop on the ol' bike, dodge the rain that may or may not have come down (I wouldn't know, being in the casino all day where they try and keep you from realizing whats going on outside) and head to... Lucky Chances Trip Report 3
by DJ Sensei on Jan 8th, 2008

So its been a while since I played much live poker, pretty much since the summer when I played some WSOP donkaments. Mostly an issue of having the vast majority of my money online, of course, and seeing as how I was building up a pretty nice roll I was content to keep growing it and playing bigg... Read More

Lucky Chances Trip Report 4
by DJ Sensei on Jan 8th, 2008

Seeing as how it was Wednesday and I didn't have anything else to do, it was prime time to hit up the ol' LC and stack some fools. Now I slept in until like 2, which is a little later than usual. I didn't expect to sleep so late, but I had been up late the night before screwing around on the int... Read More

Lucky Chances Trip Report 1
by DJ Sensei on Jan 8th, 2008

Well its been a while since I played live. At least, a real big live game like artichoke joes 5/5/10 or the vegas uncapped games. Most of my live roll has been depleted since new years for things like rent and food and everything else I buy. Cash rules everything around me, and such. So I wake u... Read More

Artichoke Joe's Trip Report 3
by DJ Sensei on Jan 8th, 2008

So, its about that time of the week. Monday, as it were. And after a few weeks of loafing about, gorging myself on turkey and video games, etc. I find that its a good day for me to head down to artichoke joes and make some papes. I set the alarm last night for noon, but that was too early becaus... Read More

Artichoke Joe's Trip Report 2
by DJ Sensei on Jan 8th, 2008

Fueled by the success of my last excursion down to Artichoke Joes to play in their 5/5/10 NL game (the biggest in the bay area that i'm aware of). I decided to head down yesterday and give them the business again. So I took the $5k roll down there, figuring if I lost it then whatever, i'd be ev... Read More

Artichoke Joe's Trip Report 1
by DJ Sensei on Jan 7th, 2008

So i've been in San Francisco for about 2 months playing no limit texas hold them for a living, but haven't yet played the so called "big game" of the area, the 5-5-10 game at artichoke joes. The minimum buyin to the game is $2000, and its uncapped. This is amazing, because it means there are th... Read More

2 days before new years, and here we are in this mansion. it’s seriously ridiculous… i’m going to take some pictures but i don’t have a usb cord with me so i’ll have to add them in when i get back from PCA. it’s 10,000 square feet, and all one floor… s... Read More

The Start

2013-05-29 05:36 PM

Hi guys, With the first post of my blog I will talk a little bit about myself. My name is Pedro, I’m from Portugal, and I’m on my 20’s. I am finishing my degree in Computer Science Engineering. I’ve always had a competitive nature in my, at first on sports, but now it is translating more to Mental games. At first I started to learn how to play chess, and I did it for like 4 months until I was bored with the la ... (continued)

Success

2013-01-25 01:30 PM

Just another quick update…..Last night when I got home I had received an email from the company I had an interview with on Wednesday and they offered me a job, which I will be starting on the 4th February which is good news for me. I handed my notice in today with the company I am currently working for and am looking forward to the future now. Thanks for the support guys, meant a lot! Stewart

Work Problems

2013-01-24 09:26 AM

Just a quick update for anyone that is reading this blog on why i haven’t posted daily since starting this blog. Straight after Christmas the electronics company I work for announced that 60-70% of the workforce would be made redundant. Not the news you want to hear after Christmas but I suppose there is no good time for this sort of news and we all agreed we would rather find out after Christmas rather than before. With this pro ... (continued)

The Beginning

2013-01-21 11:00 AM

My name is Stewart, I am 23 and live in Reading, England. I have decided to start this blog as I have been trying to improve my game a lot in the 5 years I have been playing poker and not really taken on board the advice I have seen written and spoken. 2 of the main bits of advice I have never taken in this time is a) Post a Hand history on a forum and b) Start a Blog. So here I am, 5 years sounds like a lot if I had been playing ... (continued)

888 Nitro challenge!

2012-12-26 07:02 PM

Merry Christmas fellow DCers! It’s been an awesome year, from having turned 18 in February, i’ve had a rollercoaster year, resulting in, on december 22nd, being busto. Lets break this down, my first bullet, like many others, went in about 3 days, a 100 dollar deposit sent to the HU regulars on a mistimed bluff. After this I decided to employ some even worse bankroll management grinding MTTs, the result, much of the same. ... (continued)

Don't Wanna Chase

2012-10-31 05:30 PM

(This is a cross post from my blog degnovic.blogspot.com ). Well, that didn’t go as I hoped. I started out the Oktoberfest at PKR by playing all the events the first couple of days, and actually did very well, but often came close but no cigar. It sucks, but as I proclaimed before the start of the series, the fields is bigger and therefore the variance is too. I finally feel like this will be a good time to start a ... (continued)

First Post

2012-10-12 03:58 PM

Hey guys, I decided that I’ll start blogging a bit here. My personal blog is at www.orange87.com , and I’ll probably just be cross posting my entries here. This blog will be about poker, staking, rock climbing (and many other exercises), and traveling. Probably some other random things that I’ve forgotten as well. I’ll also be posting any links to articles that I have written for other sites. Here are a few: http://shark4life.com/ ... (continued)

Let the Grinding Begin

2012-09-12 10:33 AM

(This is a cross post from my new blog I just started. You can find it at www.degnovic.blogspot.com ). I don’t know if starting my blog got me some run good, but the same night as I posted it, I shipped the Rolling in the Deep tournament at PKR for a nice bankroll boost. So I guess I’m off to a pretty good start. I’m ready to grind some tournaments again today and I’m pretty motivated. I’ve just picked up som ... (continued)

A diner in the bay area

2012-09-09 04:30 AM

I don’t know why the banks are still running. It doesn’t make sense what with this whole zombie thing on us. Too big to fail I suppose. So folks will still trade in cash, credit, and checks. Providing you can get to an ATM machine to withdraw without getting your brain eaten on the way there. Jobs are scarce, good thing this cafe still has wifi and what appear to be stale muffins. I can eat stale muffins, I ate stale m ... (continued)
