3-betting is Overrated
by BalugaWhale on Mar 9th, 2008

Hey y’all I’m chilling at Logan airport in boston waiting for my flight to leave for the British Virgin Islands (supposedly paradise), and so i’m going to write a little bit about why I think 3-betting is overused. Essentially, I think 3-betting is something that average play... Read More

Leaks, DC50k, year in review, PLO rake:(

2012-12-26 10:40 PM

Christmas meant Santa got me Veneers awesome NLHE book and Jeff Hwangs PLO series so fun reading ahead. I also have 3 weeks off in January to complete my DC50k challenge. I aim to start with NLHE 6 max at 10NL and then grind it up and I might move to some PLO if I’m feeling frisky. Not sure what site or sites yet, may give FT a go, havent deposited yet and they have some bonus thingy still I hope! So 2012 f ... (continued)

Putting my head down to the results.

2012-05-18 07:15 AM

As you can see by my last few entries I have been going through some struggles lately. I won’t go into too much detail about them here because they have already been explained. Anyway, after I had limited myself to a few short 30-minute burst sessions of 4-tabling 6 max games with reviews in between, watching some related poker vids, and then making some goals based off of it all, I got ready to sit down a ... (continued)

My play the last two weeks.

2012-05-11 12:24 AM

Above is my graph for the last two weeks of playing poker. The first 600 hands or so was a super small sample size of me playing super-aggro and getting on the right side of luck, eventually I crashed pretty hard and really started concentrating on respecting villain raises, keeping sessions under control, etc. I was also watching the coaching kristy series and trying to apply that to my game. In turn my results ... (continued)

October: Coaching, it's good for you

2011-10-30 12:15 PM

For like a month and a half ago, I posted this thread in the DC microstakes forums, where I ask how I should become better without paying for coaching. I was probably in a massive downswing, and I wasn’t paying enough attention to stacksizes and some other important stuff that I do now. I tried for like 2 weeks after this thread, to watch videos, take notes and so on. But still I was paying my monies to t ... (continued)

So, how is the poker playing going?

2011-10-11 08:23 PM

I haven’t given an update on much of my poker playing for a good reason. My poker challenge of zero to hero was going well up until the month of September when I focused primarily on NLHE. The easiest way to describe it would be…falling off a cliff followed by an uptick to breakeven over the course of another 3,000 hands followed by another cliff. Much like the offensive line of the Chicago Bears this seas ... (continued)

My poker history 2009 Part 2

2011-08-28 08:21 PM

If I was playing like a lion in March, then I was definitely being showered in April as my rungood continued. I started off the month playing .50-1 and dabbled a little bit in NL10. How hard could NLHE be? After a few days of breakeven no-limit, I pushed the idea to the side and finally started to add some 1-2 FR LHE tables in to the mix with some nice success. My plan was to play my regular preflop game, but to ... (continued)

Coming to you live in God's Country.

2011-08-18 06:38 PM

So I decided to learn how to play Backgammon a few days ago. I saw a Hoyle’s rules book in the beach house where I am staying and took a break from kid duty to read the rules. There was a backgammon set, but I didn’t have anyone to play with, so I downloaded a droid application and went on to play over 200 games at different skill levels. This may be the next thing I become hooked on, unless I try Bacca ... (continued)

My poker history-Jan to June 2008

2011-06-14 03:10 AM

Not much is happening in the way of poker the past 2 weeks. I’ve been posting quite a bit in the LLSNL forums and to no surprise there are the same type of characters including the know-it-all, abusive, sarcastic, jackwagon. Oh well. My online challenge is moving along as I am up to $10.45 playing .02-.04 FRLHE mostly. Some of that is rakeback on Cake, but since Black Friday, I am up +$8 ... (continued)

Keep on Truckin

2011-06-06 08:04 PM

My online challenge is starting to heat up and when I say “heat up”, I mean like the wick on a bottle rocket has just been lit. Rake back helped me quite a bit 3 weeks ago my BR which started at .29ish cents (see earlier blogs for exact amount), has now grown to $7.68 which is 192 BBs for .02-.04 LHE. In a month or so, if I keep seeing good results, then I will start to move up to .10-.20 and go from there. I am currently o ... (continued)

If you're a beginner please read this & respond!

2011-06-05 10:08 PM

I’m working on something that’s going to be beneficial to players of all skill levels but especially for beginners and intermediate players. What I’d like to know from all ya’ll beginners out there (both live and online) is what topics you find the most daunting? What troubles you the most? I could obviously think about what I think the biggest leaks/issues beginners have are but I’d like ... (continued)
