In the final chapter of Mathematics of NL Hold'em, WiltOnTilt focuses on G-Bucks and hand-ranges. We see a comparison between Sklansky Bucks and G-Bucks, and also compare those to actual bucks. In addition, this episode briefly delves into Game Theory and gives an example of a Game Theory Optimal bluff on the river.
WiltOnTilt will discuss key concepts related to the mathematics of No-Limit play using Powerpoint. Begin with the basics: probability and pot odds. Then follow Wilt to more advanced arenas: implied odds and reverse implied odds, software tools and mental shortcuts for equity calculations, complex EV calculations, and an exploration of fold equity. And watch this series conclude with a discourse on the ultimate in professional poker math: hand frequencies, valuebetting, and G-bucks.

In episode 7, WiltOnTilt examines EV calculations which take bet sizing into consideration by examining hand histories featuring preflop, flop, turn and river play. This video also examines how often a bluff needs to be successful to be plus EV given various bet sizes. Finally, the concept of Continuation Betting is addressed with a big focus on board texture and bet sizing.

In this episode, WiltOnTilt examines how to produce weighted hand ranges by counting hand combinations and by examining frequencies. This concept is examined using a preflop hand example where we are playing out of position against an aggressive 3 bettor. A second example is given in which we are heads up with our opponent and we need to determine the number of combos required in villain's range to allow us to call a shove.

"Don't go broke in an unraised pot with one pair," the adage goes. Well, that might be good advice for you to generally apply to your game - but your opponents aren't always as fortunate. Watch this and you'll learn how to stack people with one pair hands, when to give up on your bluffs and when to follow through. Lots of in-depth analysis on when to keep up the pressure on the turn. A must-see for limit converts to help you get that extra bit of value out of your hands and to make you *that* much more difficult to play against.

In episode 5, WiltOnTilt presents a formula to estimate a villain's open-raising range and compares the EV of calling vs 3-betting preflop. Also, the concept of Fold Equity is introduced into the EV calculations. WiltOnTilt shows us a method of determining the fold equity required when bluffing or semi bluffing without the use of software by thinking in terms of pot units.

Hey y’all I’m chilling at Logan airport in boston waiting for my flight to leave for the British Virgin Islands (supposedly paradise), and so i’m going to write a little bit about why I think 3-betting is overused. Essentially, I think 3-betting is something that average play... Read More
For like a month and a half ago, I posted this thread in the DC microstakes forums, where I ask how I should become better without paying for coaching. I was probably in a massive downswing, and I wasn’t paying enough attention to stacksizes and some other important stuff that I do now. I tried for like 2 weeks after this thread, to watch videos, take notes and so on. But still ... (continued)
I haven’t given an update on much of my poker playing for a good reason. My poker challenge of zero to hero was going well up until the month of September when I focused primarily on NLHE. The easiest way to describe it would be…falling off a cliff followed by an uptick to breakeven over the course of another 3,000 hands followed by another cliff. If I was playing like a lion in March, then I was definitely being showered in April as my rungood continued. I started off the month playing .50-1 and dabbled a little bit in NL10. How hard could NLHE be? After a few days of breakeven no-limit, I pushed the idea to the side and finally started to add some 1-2 FR LHE tables in to the mix with some nice success. So I decided to learn how to play Backgammon a few days ago. I saw a Hoyle’s rules book in the beach house where I am staying and took a break from kid duty to read the rules. There was a backgammon set, but I didn’t have anyone to play with, so I downloaded a droid application and went on to play over 200 games at different skill levels. Not much is happening in the way of poker the past 2 weeks. I’ve been posting quite a bit in the LLSNL forums and to no surprise there are the same type of characters including the know-it-all, abusive, sarcastic, jackwagon. Oh well. My online challenge is starting to heat up and when I say “heat up”, I mean like the wick on a bottle rocket has just been lit. Rake back helped me quite a bit 3 weeks ago my BR which started at .29ish cents (see earlier blogs for exact amount), has now grown to $7.68 which is 192 BBs for .02-.04 LHE. These are a few more hands from my last live NLHE session. As I said in the previous post, I am very happy with how my results are, but I am a bit concerned that I am playing a bit too weak-tight and when I do get aggressive, it may be telegraphing what I have and I could be opening game up to be exploited. I’ve been playing at the .25/.50 deep/ante tables on full tilt. This plays more like 25NL, in terms of opponent skill, but the actual money being played with is the same as 100NL.
