Here are some hands I wrote up for the Cardplayer article Final Table Takedown. These were some of my more interesting hand from the final 2 and final tables of the tournament. Hand 1: A5s is so pretty, how could you fold? So right now there are 12 people left in the tournament and both ta... Read More
A couple hands of sngs Early stage play I play extremely nitty out of position but tend to open up a bit more on the button and might call a min or 3x raise at 10/20 with hands that are double suited or make the wheel a fair amount. This is in addition to the standard value hands were peeling with, like our a2xx, a3xx combos (perferably with the ace suited and other support like another whe ... (continued)
Hello everyone ! This is my 1st ever blog post , so being that my 1st post as well as not being around DC very long I’m goin to start off with an introduction. My name is Shane I am 26 yrs old , and live in the middle of nowhere Missouri , USA lol . I have been playing poker now for about 4 years , the last 2 of which it has been my main source of income . I am a college dropout due to some bad decisi ... (continued)
It’s a hard thing to come by in this ridiculous game. So often we do the right thing only to be rewarded with a cooler or a suck out. The minor success I had today I will attribute to waking up on time, getting in the tournaments I wanted to get into, and playing fairly aware because I got a decent night of sleep for once. Of course if I were to actually do a statistical regression analysis of ho ... (continued)
Playing awfully + unable to catch cards = -$480. A million tournaments run on Sunday that everyone loves to play because all the prize pools are bloated by dead money from the weekend warriors. Rather than tearing through these, I think I like to play down to my level of competition. You wanna limp? Sure, let’s limp. Wow you’re only min donk betting into a 3 way hand that was raised pre-flop? Guess I have ... (continued)
Let me start off by saying this isn’t for you, it’s for me. Should you happen to learn something or be entertained then that’s great and all, but this is a purely selfish endeavor. For someone who calls himself a grinder, I completely lack discipline. I mean I put in a few hours a day and have been doing pretty well at it and all, but there are some things I could do, obvious things, that wo ... (continued)
At the end of the day I would be hard pressed to find to many positives out of this week. But it showed real promise on all fronts early on. With regards to the job (now job hunting) I got a call from the guys who have been stringing me along a little early Monday morning asking if I could start on Tuesday. Great! Sounds good! They just busy confirming everything will call me in an hour. I hear not ... (continued)

Congratulations shadeson, Out of 598 players in Tournament 9128034 (GC – 5d Any Series – $2,000 Cash!), you came in 1st and have won $408.00. Best wishes, PowerPoker Support First 1st place in tournament that big, ofcourse I played like a donkey at least few times my A3 cought wheel vs AK and K3 rivered trips vs pair of eights apart from that I didn’t play all that bad. August has been going well. It actually started out pretty bad since I received a $300 bonus from FTP for not playing there in a couple of months (I usually play at Ongame now). I decided to clear the bonus in the fastest possible way, so obviously Rush! I’m definitely not used and don’t want to get used to 4-tabling Rush PLO. It’s a bit insane. Not that I can’t handle the speed in the sense that I’m t ... (continued)
Usually I dislike target and goals when it comes to poker, but due to my lack of volume recently I feel as if I need to set one to get back on track so… By september 20th 2010 (this is the day i start university) I will have played 100k hands. this is a realistic target I think if i’m dedicated (which i probably won’t be) I’m hoping to put it some MTT volume as well, I much pr ... (continued)
I’ve been offering up free sweats at random times of my playing the 45s. I’m pretty good at them IMO. Sadly last time only a couple people looked in and a few asked questions on AIM. Generally anytime I’m playing < 8 tables I check my emails / PMs and if someone wants in, all they have to do is ask. All I ask is that you’re not in the same tourney as me at that time. I’m doing this for ... (continued)

Well nothing really major to brag about because it was just a mincash this time. But cashed in the Turbo Fiddy again, 45 places paid out of a field of 400, came 8th 2 days ago and just got 32nd. I’m starting to like these turbo tournaments, as I seem to run good at flips. The cash netted me $80, minus BI and rake, its a profit of $25. Not much but its a start with getting this tournament practic ... (continued)

Yesterday was a great day for mankind. I cashed $2,800 in an MTT on FullTilt (finished 4th). That was my first 4 figure score in an MTT , which is pretty sweet imo. I have now made in excess of $3600 in tournaments so far in my career, and I haven’t played a ton of them to put it that way. This was a good start to 2010, and I’m doing okay at 2/4 too. I love playing MTTs even though they suck when you play ... (continued)
I’m signed up for an invite only $500 freeroll tonight on PKR .com, should be a fun break from the cash game grind. I’m quite pleased with how much I have learned about Poker since joining Deuces Cracked, and I’m hoping my better understanding of ranges and equity will help me go deep tonight. I haven’t put a lot of time into MTT strategy, but I have a much better understanding of ... (continued)
I thought I might play in some micro stake MTT and low FPP buy-in tournaments such as the $1.10 $2000 guarantee and the 20fpp $1000 turbo tourny. WOW are they insane, especially the turbo. Over 6500 started the tourny and by first break only like 1700 were left, all-ins everywhere with everything. The $1.10 was better I just couldn’t get a hand to save my life. I will still be playing them here and there but I am probably going to focus more on the 45 man and less SnG’s.
