Hey all First Content post, also I was never the best english student so please bear with me. After getting back into the game I have been very short term result orientated. I thought I have had some terrible runs, but allow me to break this down so you can see and hopefully apply the concepts to your game. I was down but this was all within varience. Rememeber that a winning poker player tends to have th ... (continued)
I’ve been playing some pretty decent poker since I made my previous blog post about goals, and as a result I’m about 1/3rd of the way to completing goal #1. The important thing is that the quality of my decision-making has really improved a lot, and I’m getting a lot of benefit from the work that I’m putting in away from the table. Just got to keep on making good decisions, be patient, keep working hard and the results will take c ... (continued)
I have set a series of specific, measurable poker goals for myself. These are however, relatively long-term and I don’t think it will be helpful to disclose what they are until after they’ve been achieved. However, I will post about my progress and reveal the first 4 goals after either the 4th or 5th one is completed. One thing which has been helping me is that I’m reading " The Poker Mindset ". So I have a note open on my desktop when ... (continued)
I played my longest $2/4 session last night trying to beat a maniac at his own game and ended down just over $200 (50BB). It would have been more but thankfully I got some cards towards the end of the session and it took the maniac a little while to realize that his heater-plus-over-eager-oba-fuelled winnings ($300+) would most likely evaporate if he stayed at the table much longer. ... (continued)
My attempts to capture the big picture continue… http://blog.obadonke.com/2010/09/10/no-flop-no-drop-its-still-poke/ On reflection I might have got a bit of EPTPE wrapped up in there so will go back and add a plug for Tommy’s book and website.
I read. I read a lot, actually. And allsorts of books too, but with a tendency towards serious novels, short stories, and books that fall at into the political and social science genre. And poker books. Here is a short, illustrative list of the better books I have read this year: Little Daughter – Zoya Phan (As a teenager, Zoya was forced to flee her country after her village was attacked by the Burmese Army. ... (continued)
Continuing in the blogging drill vein, this is another small update on how things have been going lately. Edit: Wtf*** What an insane weekend!! I traveled to Belfast on Friday to play in one of the regular games up there, lollivepokeraments, obv. The fun twist was that the other players were mainly people who had been regulars in the games I TD’d until last year. Needless to say, I’m very familiar with their games and t ... (continued)
I had a near-Eureka experience a few weeks ago. Today I had an even stronger near-Eureka experience. Indeed, the experience was so strong that I’m worried if I don’t blog about it now, the actual Eureka will slip into my Poker consciousness without much fanfare. My guess is that the Eureka moment will have something to do with how I view a poker hand. I’m getting to a point where I can truly see that a hand is ... (continued)
Yesterday I played a couple sessions and dropped 8 buyins. Woopdee doo, so standard. However it was disappointing for me as I seem to fall back into my ways before I started to work on my tilt issues. I started the day off badly, making a couple ‘call to make sure my read is right’, which are very costly, that in turn with playing badly saw me down 5 buyins. That didn’t bother me too much and when I got back ... (continued)
So I have not really been able to get anything going this month. I think maybe I have played 4 sessions total for the month and it is already half way though. My schedule has been really hectic with class and all but I only have a few more weeks of that and then I can fully concentrate on poker. It really sucks when you go and work 10 hours a day and then have 4 hours of class after that. By the time I ... (continued)
