Wednesday rungood

2011-04-06 09:51 PM

Wednesday, no breakeven, rather more 3 buy ins up almost. Flopped some big hands, and people always will try to bluff at it. Funny when you once in a while meet up with one of those. The last days had been good sessions, so I’m looking forward to complete this week of playing poker.Hope I’ll get in my goal of number of hands! Then I can look forward and see how discipline and concentration pays of ... (continued)

grinding etc

2011-02-17 11:41 AM

I played a lot of hours this month so far. I try to play an average of 4 hours a day which normally means I get to play 2-3k hands. At the moment I feel good about it, but I know that I have to make some changes to keep being able doing that. My average day looks like this: Getting up at 9:30am, work from 10am to 3pm, dinner, poker from 4pm to 8/10pm, and then doing what I want to do. Tbh, after working ... (continued)

"Writers Block"

2010-12-09 09:37 AM

I can tell I’ve gone too long without posting when my dad emails me wondering why. So, here’s a quick update on the assorted goings-on of yours truly: I finished up the 40k hands challenge, but the last 13k hands were a pretty nasty downswing and I finished it down $, so I wasn’t in much of a mood to write about it. There were basically two weeks where I couldn’t win anything (not even board games w ... (continued)

Volume Prop: Week 1.7 update

2010-10-30 06:30 AM

After last week’s mediocre results, I realized that playing 12+ tables, while great for getting tons of hands in, is not so great for playing well and winning money. The games aren’t exactly 2005 PartyPoker quality; I need to actually be on my A game to be winning at a decent clip. So, I decided to cut down on tables, playing between 6 and 9, and aim for quality over quantity. The stakes ... (continued)

Volume Prop: Week 1 update

2010-10-25 08:10 AM

I got off to a quick start this week, knowing that this challenge would be a lot more manageable and enjoyable if I got ahead of schedule early. I’ve been playing mostly 2/4-5/10 PLO on Stars, 9-12 tabling. This is more tables than I’m accustomed to, but I feel pretty capable with TableNinja on my side. I put in long sessions Monday through Thursday, and while there was some sense of accomp ... (continued)

Grinding, and coaching

2010-10-15 09:50 PM

So I’ve been playing a lot of full ring recently. My shot at 100NL started brilliantly and got progressively worse, and I ended up going on a $1k downswing, my biggest ever. Not much I can do about it apart from pick myself up the floor and get back grinding, so that’s what I’ve been doing. I’ve also started getting coaching from citizenwind, a prominent CardRunners coach. Sorry to defect DC ... (continued)

Ringside

2010-09-28 10:29 AM

I started a thread on 2p2 about my switching over to full ring full time, so I thought I might as well post it here as well. I started playing online poker seriously about 15 months ago. When I first started, I jumped into full ring, because that’s all I knew. I quickly found 2p2 and made the transition to 6max, because that’s what all the cool kids played, and I was told it was much more profitable. ... (continued)

Super Nova during July and thoughts of SNE in 2011

2010-06-29 04:15 AM

Ok. So there has been some requests about putting a blog together for my journey getting Super Nova in July and also about my approach on SNE during 2011. In July, I am going to grind out about 240k hands at 50nl-100nl. Not sure on how the volume will go, but have been running really hot the last 20k hands at 50nl (like ~10BB/100) so will probably be moving up ... (continued)

Rebuilding

2010-05-20 07:18 AM

Ok so I spent some time at a friends place last night… after ranting my frustrations at life, I think I’m ready to start rebuilding. Spent the morning doing some things I’d been putting off for ages – setting up my business properly (I do multimedia design/3D animation so if anyone is interested in offering me work, send me a message). Lots more to do but its a start. Yesterday on one of my tough ... (continued)

From 400$ to 10,000$ and above

2010-05-17 03:21 PM

Hello! I’m still studying and I want to start making money out of poker. I know it’s not going to be easy but I am really onto this. I lost like 200$ with doing mindless stupid things and now I want to be the one getting the money off the tables. I am probably going to start with around 400$ and I will be playing 20-30 SNGs/ per day at 5$ buy-in. I know it’s probably not really ri ... (continued)

Swongs

2010-03-24 10:43 AM

March continues to be a successful month of poker, though I’ve run into a patch of greater variance lately. Because my confidence levels are high and the games have been good, I’ve been playing a little higher. Naturally, higher stakes = bigger swings, so that has been happening. Fortunately I’ve maintained my composure, played well, and powered through it. Here’s a graph of the last few days: I’m ... (continued)

Maximum Wage

2010-03-12 09:35 AM

I’ve been focused on the grind all month so far and it has started to pay off a little more consistently. In fact, I’ve only had one losing day (and I won it back with extra profit the next day). The game is midstakes PLO , mostly, but I’ve had a few successful triple-draw sessions too. I’ve managed to put in a little more than 12k hands, which is about on par for my goal of 30k in the month. T ... (continued)

Groove Set

2010-02-06 03:39 AM

Hey guys I decided to change from Pandora to groove shark from the advice of AMT . So far I’ve grabbed a bunch of the bands that people recommended. I really liked Ratatat, Empire in the Sky, RJD2, El Ten Eleven, Emancipator, and a few others. If you are interested in listening check it out! Grinding

The Grind!

2010-01-30 01:36 AM

Hey again! I read Grinding Music A while ago and realized that I am sort of tired of just opening iTunes and hitting shuffle. I seem to get a bunch of All that Remains, Lamb of God mixed with Yo Yo Ma and its harshing my poker vibe. So I’ve set out to create the premier grinder music channel on Pandora . So far my mix is as follows: Funk (yeah the genre its solid wanna fight about it?) Cat Empire (Ch ... (continued)

Motivate yourself

2010-01-12 02:04 PM

I dislike blogging, it makes me imagine I’m talking to myself. But maybe if I do it I’ll start listening. We had a family discussion around the table this Christmas. My brother plays poker for recreation in a pub league. I used to play it too but I just, one day stopped. My mother didn’t understand why either of us played. My brother said it was a social thing. I said I played for the mo ... (continued)

Week three roundup: Rollercoaster and royalament

2009-12-22 04:17 PM

A little late with the update this week but I have been very busy and had to postpone writing down my rantings The Grind I played about 6000 hands last week and it was a really though ride. A you can see from the graph every session looked like a swing in the opposite direction of the previous session. I ended up the week about BE if I account for rb. Week two roundup: RB Grinding and hot Saturday

2009-12-12 11:16 PM

A day late, but here is the roundup of what I have been doing in the second week since I started my blog. The Grind Got in 2896 hands this week at the eurotables, I am aiming for 4000 a week though, so I am going to work on that a bit more but has a lot of life stuff to do this week. I started out with a very bad session, and I was a bit disappointed, not because I ra ... (continued)

Another new blog - and so what?

2009-10-25 09:21 PM

“A Poker Journey” - Another new blog, another new poster — and so what?, one might ask. Hopefully the name will equal this posters transition from break-even SNG’er to winning SNG’er, but but now it is just some dreamy unfulfilled title. Honestly this blog is my attempt to keep focus on improving my game, and a way – I hope – to get inputs and critisism on how to get bett ... (continued)
