I was first introduced to poker for $ late my freshman year of college (2003). I was studying finance at NYU at the time. One of my friends asked me if I wanted to play a $10 game of poker. Rewind about 3 years to high school. There was a big blackjack craze at our high school where dur... Read More
I’ve been able to play a bit more regularly. Not doing great, feeling that I’m learning but still too few hands to really judge. I came across this thread today in 2p2: “Wanna make a million in 1 year with 100$” http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/newreply.php?do=postreply&t=1091140 So i made my own assumptions and calculated how much I am going to win at playing poker as an amateur. Hello my dearest readers… I cannot believe number of viewers of my Blog hit 1000… I am very very happy about it and much appreciate your time… I hope I can do better job keeping this page updated. I had a pretty bad run last time I posted. I tried some more sessions and things went wrong even more… pretty much wiped out all my earning of 2NL and I came close to the verge of scal ... (continued)
Two months ago or so, I was puzzled why I am not even capable of winning at 2NL when I do sort of alright in 200,500 and sometimes 1000NL Live in Casinos. I didn’t know what VPIP is, what PFR is , what Holdem Manager is and how to use all this crap load of numbers around peoples avatars. I didn’t even know what is the difference between 40/8 and 15/13 player. So I decided to find a t ... (continued)
I’ve made back my horrible full ring losses from yesterday (at proper 6-max) and ready to start grinding out what I need to move up to the next level. If anyone’s interested in the basic bankroll management approach that I’ve adopted (explained here ) but want to tweak the parameters somewhat for themselves, then here is an openoffice calc spreadsheet you can use ( http://www.uncarved.com/static/BRM.ods ). You need openoffice or libreoffice to be able to read the file.
I had moved up to mostly playing 25NL, but had a pretty brutal end of May/start of June. It was the usual thing – start with run bad and move pretty quickly on to just plain playing atrociously. My self-diagnosis is that I have two main problems – firstly I’ve been trying to move up too fast and my fundamentals are not sound yet, and secondly I need to improve my patience, ... (continued)
Poker for me is not giving up. I have gotten beat so many times but have realized that it is the beats that make you stronger if you can be persistant, patient, and a grit to win. The click is happening. Playing on 10.00 sit n go’s and winning now is a charm. Only been playing poker for 4 months and started with 20.00 real cash in FullTilt and 100 in PokerStars, now running close to 600.00 in my bank ... (continued)
I am perplexed as to what to do. I love Poker but I love my family much more. I am seeking a balance of the both loves. My family of course does come first but want to “fit in” poker. I have found a local poker league that I can work in on Sunday afternoons. I am excited to always play live. I also see that I can go pretty well playing just once a week a ... (continued)
Going to write a quick blog before I head out for an afternoon round of golf, really hoping I can break 90 today. I’ve been playing really poorly recently which is worrying seeing as my golf prop bet is coming to a close and I’m going to need to shoot 85 or lower to win it I think. Hopefully my game will start coming together. With MLB trade deadline fast approaching, my fav ... (continued)
Hi everyone, For those who dont know me I am the world’s worse when it comes to bankroll management. I have gone on silly downswings mainly caused by wining 2 buyin each day for 10 days and then losing 15 buyins in one day and then the next lose another 10 buyin the next day.. Over the next few weeks I will discus new style of Bankroll Mangement and tilt prevention 1) Only ... (continued)
So how will I grind?? As mentioned, I won’t go broke so strict-ish BRM for me. I’ll use Chris Fergusons’s BRM rules for cash. Only buy in with 5% of my stack. I’ll generally play 4 6Max tables at a time. I’ll play with a full stack and reload when my stack drops to 75% of the buy in. I’ll leave a table if I reach 3 buy ins at the table. I’ll end a session if I drop 3 bu ... (continued)
