I will not be finishing my Maths of PLO video series in the next couple of months. I am trying to finish writing my Ph.D. thesis. Producing poker videos (on top of managing a coaching group and playing a little bit myself) is non-compatible with this goal. I have, however, just published a paper on my research . :) I do still daydream about finishing the video series, and am always thinking o ... (continued)
At the beginning of March – I made a post that linked to Ben Polak’s excellent economics course on game theory, part of the Open Yale Courses project. This course really is the nuts for the neophyte strategist. Now I want to bring your attention to Academic Earth , a website that seems to be organising (freely available) lecture courses from a wide range of universities on topics acr ... (continued)
I’ve finally finished the second episode of my maths of PLO series. I worry that I run through the concepts too quickly, but I think it’s probably better that way. You can always pause to catch up, or watch it through several times if you don’t get things first time. If you are really struggling to get to grips, please feel free to contact me on Skype (same username as on here) ... (continued)
I am still working on my maths of PLO videos and hope to release the next two episodes soon. These two episodes deal with counting preflop starting hand combinations; I have written the slides but every time I start recording the audio I get new ideas for displaying the data. There are some pretty graphs in there now. I have been making a lot of graphs and charts. Here is an overview of all ... (continued)
So far I have made a point to say as little as possible about my results. I think I will keep things that way, as I see little benefit in focusing on monetary goals. Overall, I am pretty happy though and am about ready to move up in stakes at most of my normal games. For this I am glad. My main goals for March are to complete writing the “Maths of PLO †series I announced last weekend, and to r ... (continued)
So my blog just made it onto the frontpage of the DC blog portal on the “Most Commented†lists. As a thank-you to my readers I’ve actually gone and finished one of my “lazy Sunday†projects, and I give you the 7-minutes-long episode 1 trailer of my envisioned “Mathematics of PLO †series. In the video I discuss basic combinatorics in the context of PLO starting hands, ... (continued)
