I’ve had a bad last 2k hands, and am down around 8 buyins. I lost mostly with AK AIPF (4bi vs TT, KK, KK and AA) and twice with KK (they had AA both times), several smaller pots added up to another two buyins, so I am stuck 8 buyin for the month. Not a good start to the month! This reminds me of a video I watched with Nikachu about preflop aggression in small stakes. I distinctly remember him sa ... (continued)
Hey guys, I’ve decided to try coaching and I’ll be taking one student to see how things go. I won’t be charging anything because I have limited experience coaching. I will guarantee at least 3 free lessons and we’ll take it from there. I will be coaching 6max or headsup, up to 50NL. I play 200 and 400NL myself, you can check out my 6max or headsup results for this year or PTR , although the lat ... (continued)
Over the weekend I had a couple of horrible days. My first bad days (meaning poor play, not just standard downswing) in a couple of months. I was just auto-piloting through and expecting the money to fall out of peoples’ stacks and into mine. Today I changed things. I made sure that each time I 3bet, I did so with a plan. I knew how hard I would push on low flop, what high cards flop I would be triple ... (continued)
If you’re a microstakes NLHE player, I definitely recommend you check out the DC Community Concepts thread. You can click that link, or see it stickied at the top of the 6max NLHE microstakes forum. There are currently 3 articles written by YOU, the DC community, detailing topics like C-betting, Tilt, and The Art of Moving Down. I might end up writing the next article. Not sure. Bu ... (continued)
Been through a pretty bad downswing again this week. I think I lost 8 BIs at 50NL FR Rush in less than 3k hands. Lost a few at 50NL 6max as well. I think my biggest leak is simply playing too loose. Stealing the blinds relentlessly and playing very loose-aggressive is fun, but I get myself into too many marginal spots that, honestly, I’m not good enough to navigate at the moment. This m ... (continued)
So I’ve been playing a lot of full ring recently. My shot at 100NL started brilliantly and got progressively worse, and I ended up going on a $1k downswing, my biggest ever. Not much I can do about it apart from pick myself up the floor and get back grinding, so that’s what I’ve been doing. I’ve also started getting coaching from citizenwind, a prominent CardRunners coach. Sorry to defect DC ... (continued)
In January I started playing 25NL 6max Rush Poker. I lost countless buy-in’s day after day. So in spring I joined DC and worked hard on my game. Pretty soon I was beating 100NL Rush… My bankroll got bigger and bigger. At the start of summer I moved up to the next level. The first 20000 hands were my best days in poker. But it was only a matter of time before I fell deep into the valley of unhappiness… 2 ... (continued)
I mildly been playing on UB this past week. It’s been okay, I suppose. I’m breaking even for the time being. However, I’m continuing to watch the series “From the Ground Up.” Must say, great series! Also, I’ve been getting involved in the forum more often.
Today, I implented some of the concepts from the series “From the Ground Up” in my .1/.2 NLHÂ six handed session. I didn’t play for too long, but I had moderately good results. I mostly been following the raising and calling ranges the instructors of the series suggest in certain positions at the table. I’m on episode three right now which discusses flop play and reading board textures. I’m really eage ... (continued)
Basically, I’m watching videos to improve my heads up and six handed no-limit hold’em game. The video series I’ve decided to add to playlist are: “Dogisheads Up” and “From the Ground Up”. Both series are very informative and helpful. So much so, I bought a spiral notebook to write some of the hand ranges and the important conceptual ideas they mention. Overall, very excited I joined the ... (continued)
After my free seven day run, I decided to get a monthly subscription to the site. I’m honestly impressed with the information that is provided and the helpful coaching and instructions. I’m looking forward to learning and investing time into the site. Also, probably need to get involved in the forum discussion a lot more.Â
OK so recently poker has been very frustrating for me, having played 55k hands at .25/.50 6max LHE beating that for just over 2BB/100 then moving upto .50/1 and breaking even for 30k hands I couldn’t stand the varience anymore. Or at least I thought. The problem was I was trying to make as much money as possible instead of focusing on becoming a better player, sure I watched a load of training videos specifi ... (continued)
This was 100% 200NL i-Poker 6max. Should have just played the 24 hour period mentioned in my last post haha. Overall, I’m pleased as it was better than March. My old C game has definitely been ‘lopped’ off, and that is much better. I still seem to tilt a little too much, however I realise this is now a work in progress and I making slow improvements. Looking ahead for May, I am unsure how mu ... (continued)
Its 11:06 pm on Tuesday March 16, 2010 and I am sitting here with my girlfriend as she fills out the U.S. Census for us. She is insisting that I am of Hispanic origin because my father is Portuguese and my mother is Italian, it took a few times but she finally marked me as white. I was born in America, I don’t speak Portuguese, I am not tan, I’m white damnit! This month has been in ... (continued)
So I haven’t blogged in a while, I’ve been slacking off and forgot about it. So I’m creating a new blog, here on Deuces Cracked, which is my favorite poker training site. I’m subscribed to both DC and Card Runners, but Krantz’z videos are probably the most epic videos I’ve seen making DC #1. I also have a free subscription to stox poker via truly free poker training, but haven’t taken a ... (continued)
So, over the past few weeks, I’ve been paying a lot more attention to pots and hands when we get check raised or raised when we make a bet. If I folded every time I got raised or c/r…I think I would be saving a ton of money. The thing is when you have an over pair to the board or tptk and sometimes even two pair, we have to play that guessing game against our opponents. Does ... (continued)
So, i’ve decided to go back to NL Full Ring are start from the ground up again. After a terrible 2 months at NL 6max both 50NL and 100NL, i’m going to go back to 50NL full ring where I started. Since I have moved to New York, I feel my game is gone way down. I don’t know why. I was crushing 50NL 6max for over 6 months and the moment I moved up to 100NL and got crushed, my game hasn’t came back. ... (continued)
So, I’m going to use this post to highlight some fun hands I’ve played over the past week. Hopefully you guys like reading them. If anyone has any comments or criticisms about the way I played any particular hand, I’d love to hear those too. Seems strange to be blogging when I’m sure no one will ever read – but hey ho. Main reason for writing this I guess is so I can vent or gloat about good and bad sessions; post the odd bad/good hand and maybe solicit some comment. Before I start with my current grindings I’m going to give a bit of background. Started to play poker just over 3 years ago – shortly before Christmas 2006. Today I played 350 hands of NL100 NLHE and 66 hands of 3/6 stud hi. I was breakeven for the day at NLHE , and identified one very large mistake where I didn’t stick to my plan for the hand and just clicked buttons – even after thinking about the spot for a while.; I lost a few bets at stud after losing the one big pot I played with trip QQQ – however, I do feel that I misplayed ... (continued)
I’m taking a couple of days off playing, as I mentioned in my last post, so I thought it would also be good to go back and review my fundamentals, so I’m re-watching tubasteve and n0whereman’s awesome series ‘From The Ground Up’. It’s probably been the most helpful video series I’ve watched so far on DC. I LOVE episode 3, where the guys go into so much depth about c-betting, board ... (continued)
I’ve decided to make the switch from FR to 6max as my primary game. I decided to make this switch because there’s just a lot more 6max content then there is FR content. Also, the player pool is much larger which makes it easier for finding games. Played my first 6max session yesterday night and it went really well. I got into some tough spots which I’ll post later. There is one hand I can post now s ... (continued)
