I haven’t posted this week because I have been determined not to post a whine fuelled bitch fest of a blog. I have been on a nasty downswing. It sucked. I seem to be dragging myself out of it and hope to finish the second half of the month strongly. So how do you deal with a dose of the ol’ run bad? I’m not expert, but here is what works for me. 1) Move down early enough. Don’t wait until ... (continued)
The answer: When your mental state is balanced whether you win or lose is a key indicator of a winning player. I remember that for my first few years that I played poker that the highs and lows were so much more pronounced than they are now. This seems kind of ridiculous seeing as I was playing $4.40 sngs and donking around in 50nl. I would get so excited when I won, ... (continued)
Firstly, thanks for all the pms I’ve received. I’ve had 5 or 6 enquiries for some free RUSH coaching and have a couple of sessions scheduled. Good to talk to Acombfosho on skype today, looking forward to hopefully helping you guys crush. As we move up stakes, just being able to value bet properly, make good folds and hand read a bit is not enough to have you smash it. Exploiting ... (continued)
Obviously there are some different ways of crushing RUSH but here’s what’s worked for me. Many of these are things that work well in ‘normal games’ 1) Tight is right: I’m playing like 16/14 6% 3bet 2) Don’t waste your time getting into levelling wars with regs 3) Work on playing well deep. Most players, including regs, are horrible deep. You get deep a lot playing RUSH sometimes up to 500 ... (continued)
Mental game is what a lot of people really struggle with. It’s an easy game when we’re flopping sets all over the shop and value betting donks to death who gleefully call three streets with tp no kicker. But when things are going wrong, constantly bricking draws with monster flops, having a fish hit make some random two pair on the river it can seriously screw your game up. You start ... (continued)
So, I thought I’d finally take the plunge and start a poker blog. I’m a 29 year old guy who has dabbled in a most forms of NL poker. I had quite a good amount of success in tournaments last year: http://www.officialpokerrankings.com/fulltiltpoker/the_sphinx1/poker/results/13DC7BCD9B76418EBC390DEAE74895D7.html?t=2 However, I have always preferred cash games but had really struggled, not as badly as my ... (continued)
… you think you’re going to be awesome at it until you try it out. In case you didn’t know, live poker is really easy for anyone with a brain. Having a brain, poker seemed like a good idea 4 years ago. Still playing regularly I decided to quit the wiffle stakes of live poker to try to learn the harder version… and it’s killing my life. Adjusting to these nitty uNL players is turning out to ... (continued)
Hey guys. Although i didnt wanna post any results really, i am going to now. The reason is very simple: I have lost my 100nl-winnings, that took me 3 weeks of very good play, on 200nl in 7 days. I also started losing on 100nl. I lose every flip, i get coolered all the time, i do play some hands badly, make some calls that might not be very good, etc So, i thought, maybe i am just too bad. And i filte ... (continued)
In January I started playing 25NL 6max Rush Poker. I lost countless buy-in’s day after day. So in spring I joined DC and worked hard on my game. Pretty soon I was beating 100NL Rush… My bankroll got bigger and bigger. At the start of summer I moved up to the next level. The first 20000 hands were my best days in poker. But it was only a matter of time before I fell deep into the valley of unhappiness… 2 ... (continued)

This was 100% 200NL i-Poker 6max. Should have just played the 24 hour period mentioned in my last post haha. Overall, I’m pleased as it was better than March. My old C game has definitely been ‘lopped’ off, and that is much better. I still seem to tilt a little too much, however I realise this is now a work in progress and I making slow improvements. Looking ahead for May, I am unsure how mu ... (continued)
200nl – 6max – iPoker, last 24hours. Mostly 4 tabling. Will post some of the hands at some stage. No Doomswitch please.
Didn’tfeel the urge to blog last week. The second half of Feb didn’t end up overly well. Graph below (99% 100nl), was still a decent profit for the month. I played a few hands (>100) of 200nl in Feb, and begun the first couple days of March by playing one or two tables of 200nl with the regular 100nl tables. However I have since come up with a plan of attack for the rest of ... (continued)
Hey guys and welcome to my first DC blog post. I can’t promise much effort or high content material here, just my ramblings, goals, some results and stories. 2010 has been a rocky year so far… I felt very motivated after the New Year that this is the year I will break through to being a midstakes regular and travel more. So far I have accomplished little to that end. I got bronchitis in ... (continued)
I would like to get this set up for March, first come first served. If this group is a success (which it obviously will be ;D), I may try and run 2 groups in April. We’ll be meeting on Monday’s or Tuesday’s and usually between 2pm and 8pm EST depending on when everyone in the group can meet. Who: 50NL-200NL 6-Max players who want to improve their game and move up, but mor ... (continued)
I 4-tabled for two sessions today, and really felt like my game has improved a ton since the start of the year already. I got in over 750 hands, but I feel really tired having done it. It’s a sure sign that I’m thinking hard. For one session I had an old 400NL reg sweating me, and he said that he was overall impressed with my style. I did make a few mistakes because we were typing and I missed a f ... (continued)
