Villain was a 58/11 over 73 hands, who wasn't doing anything crazy or strange. He was a calling station, but not as much as his stats suggest. I had been betting big into him a fair bit, he was probably a bit supicious of me.
I'm really, really unsure what I should do on the river. tbh I kinda froze up, I was not thinking of what to do if it peeled, and I couldn't see any merit in any sequence. I checked, time banked a ton and talked myself into calling because "he could be betting a busted draw and I'm getting decent odds"
Can someone show me how a more advanced player would deal with this situation? As in, what'd youse think at the table to come with the correct decision?

The question is do you beat the villains raising range in the situation. Unless the villain is bluffing, they have at least a jack. It really comes down to if you think the villain is likely to bluff in this spot. Most calling stations will take a free showdown if they do not have a great hand. The question to ask is what hands would villain raise with ip on the river, given your betting pattern. Given the J you now have 2 pair, kings and jacks with an 8 kicker... what can that really beat? Also K8o seems rather loose from the BB.

There is no value in a river bet since we are splitting with any worse Kx.
I don't see a guy like him bluff enough missed fd combos here and he is never betting the river with worse. So I would say it's a pretty easy c/f.

I'm not sure if you read the hand properly; villain bet, not raise, and preflop I checked, not call.

There is value in betting very smally, but it's probably a -EV bet. I totally agree; I'm gonna try and tell myself whenever I am in a hand what opponent sterotype I'm facing, so hopefully that'll help me make more precise plays.
